would Frazier survive Ibeabuchi

Just watched this clip and was thinking this guy would have killed Frazier what do people think.

Joe would have been game but would have been up against a hell of a lot of heavy punishment.....

 

I watched the Ibeabuchi Tua fight today. Ibeabuchi had a great chin and workrate he would have given Frazier hell and probably would have beaten him.

 

Ike beat nobody close to Joe greatness and the Tua fight could have gone either way. Joe would beat him Ike, Frazier would get the better of him on the inside and take him to deep water that Ike never went too.

I think that Frazier would probably have outpopinted him.

Frazier had better defence than David Tua and would not have eaten as many punches even if he went to war with Ike.

 

Yeah i think he would have been too big and active for Marvis. Then again Marvis might ambush him a bit.

 

The thing i don't like is when people judge fights by who is more famous and not the match up itself. I think Ike would have been way too much Joe. Joe never liked to be pushed back by bigger stronger fighters with power( Foreman and had to survive Bonevena). Just add a non stop volume punching, skillful, iron chinned monster and there you have it. I think that version of Tua would have troubled him as well.

 

Hard to judge, because we never saw Ibeabuchi in big trouble. If Frazier retired after the first Ali fight, who would've picked Foreman over him in 2 rounds? Ibeabuchi's weaknesses were never really shown, although i think his defence lacks a bit and we have no idea how he responds to a rangy boxer with a good jab.

Which, by the way, would be irrelevant for a Frazier fight. He needs to put Frazier away or down a few times during the first 6 rounds, or he'll lose a decision like he did on my scorecard against Tua.

 

You're equating fame with accomplishments. Sergio Mora and Peter Manfredo are more famous than Ibeabuchi, Joe Frazier ACCOMPLISHED 10 times more. Check their records. Who did Ibeabuchi beat? Chris Bryd, a blown up Middleweight and Tua (the most overrated, underachieving Heavyweight I can think of). I guess Ibeabuchi was powerful but I'm not ready to compare him to Foreman because he never really stopped anybody ACCOMPLISHED other than a blown up middleweight. Ibebauchi reminds me much more of a modern day Norton than Foreman, but without the resume. Another what-if guy like Tony Ayala.

Frazier would outwork him and gain a clear decision.

 

i see ike being too big and too busy for frazier. Dont get me wrong, frazier is a great fighter in his own right (over rated IMO), this is just a bad style match up for him

I thought Tua won too.

 

My feeling is that Frazier would have won like he did against Manuel Ramos. I could easily be wrong. Ike dissapeared before we had a chance to see his REAL potential. I was never that impressed by David Tua, so Ike´s victory might not rate as such a brilliant win as many sees it.
A lot of ifs and buts here.

I agree. This is just the kind of fighter that gave Frazier a lot of trouble.
