...... boxing be more competitive (and better) if a universal rule was created to extend all fights to 12 rounds?

i think it would be more brutal, however it would get rid of a lot of shite 'fakers'

    Thoughts?

Oh and that Canadian heavyweight card was awful!! Fury ended up looking the best out of the lot of them!!!!!

    :hi:

    no way

fighters need gradually building up. if a novice/prospect went in the 10th 11th 12th round in his first fight without properly being prepared he'd lose all his tecnique and pick up bad habits

When you making comments like ''i think it would be more brutal'' then you lose me.

Lets have alternate hitting- Last Man Standing!..................

Absolutely. But would it not get rid of the non-athlete section of the professional game in some way at least!

You would HAVE to be extremely fit to enter the pro game (which all other pro sports usually require these days)

You do realise by having 12 round fights from your very first fight you will cut short each and every mans career don't you?

Fighters would receive double the amount of punishment in there early fights and it would lead to problems in there later career.

Journeyman would be getting seriously damaged and wouldn't be able to box for months after if they allowed there pride to stand in the way.

Plus if you have 10 12 rounders it would go on forever unless you had KO's all over show.

Not necessary. The whole point of the 12 round step up is its supposed to be just that - a step up. They are the championship rounds for a reason, the champion fighters prove their worth by being good distance fighters.

Also you're overlooking the obvious, which journeymen and small hall fighters are going to be able to train for 12 rounds when they've got a day job and boxing is supplementary? Journeymen and lower level fighters are important to the game.

I'd do away with 4 rounds though. That's amateur stuff for me. 6 rounds minimum.

I did prefer it when there was 5 championship rounds rather than 2.

We could introduce ladder matches to decide who gets to pay sanctioning fees.

Doing away with sanctioning fees would be nice.

Every fight isn't going to be a brutal war, just like every game of football isn't an FA cup final. It happens sometimes when certain styles mix. A lot of fighters seem to be doing 12 at a canter and it has imo taken away from the idea of championship rounds. I think lineal and undisputed titles should be 15 rounds, and feel that alot of elite level fighters might agree. The idea of all fights being 12 rounds isn't a good one for the reasons already stated.
