You are basing all this on his fight with Hopkins? **** off. That was a close fight and winky was out of his element. He's a natural junior middle and he was fighting at light heavy. And if you havent noticed, it's not easy to look good against Hopkins.
yeah i hear ya. what i find intriguing, and what i was pointing out, is that pavlik LOOKs stiff, predictable, and robotic, but maybe actually in the ring it's a different game. though taylor seemed to possess the speed to get around KPs game, he simply couldn't do it. (maybe it's a matchup thing though?)
No need to be so aggressive there No, I'm basing it now on how he got completely bullied by Hopkins, but how he actually looked in himself. He was slow, pedestrian, no snap at all, reactions were off footwork was poor. Can attribute some of that to weight, he was carrying excess at 170 no doubt, but he's an old man with lots of miles in the legs. He won't look sharp just because he's at 160 IMO, he's simply past it. He is a natural JMW, but he's fighting a huge MW here anyway so that doesn't really help your argument. He also has nothing that is going to cause Pavlik a problem stylistically, as much as I'd love to see slaphead derailed.
TFFP has it nailed. Pavlik is just too young and strong for Winky at this point in time. Pavlik has said he would punch Winky's arms into pulp to get them to drop. Winky doesn't stand much chance of hurting Pavlik so Pavlik can pretty much do as he pleases.
Apologies. I still think it's a bit presumptious to extrapolate from him looking bad in one fight and incidentally being older now that he is past it. Like you say he was carrying a lot of weight and fighting Bernard Hopkins.
Winky is getting old and he's not fighting enough which is an awful combination at this stage of his career ! Pavlik would overwhelm him as well !!
