I love reading about boxers from the past, best stuff I've read has been from Mike Casey or Springs Toledo, both are brilliant.

If anybody knows about other writers that do good boxing history stuff let me know.

I was a fan of Graham Houston's for a long time, and was gutted when he sold out.

  8. Yeah just read The Fifth God of War, was a great article. One thing I didn't quite agree with was the statement that when they were both at their best, Duran was better. At the time of the fight he had bag loads more experience than Leonard, clearly at the apogee of his career. It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if they had fought several times around their peak because the rematch was a joke. Nevertheless great read, cheers!

    PS

Just read the Cerdan article, also very interesting. Will try and look up more of these. Merci beaucoup!

Budd Shulberg's column in the Scottish Herald newspaper was outstanding. Wish there was some way to get hold of a collection.

Some of Budd's stuff from the Herald (I got the master the gig) are in his Ringside book (Mainstream Press).

    Adios.

You know Schulberg had a book out? Ringside: A Treasury of Boxing Reportage. Fantastic read. I highly recommend it.

And the guys who spoke about Springs Toledo are spot on.
