So Gomez has the chance of beating Cotto, yet Cotto is taking on a chump and if he wants to fight Floyd he needs to step up his competition? :huh
Floyd is a great Champion, there is no doubt about that, but what is the point in fighting Oscar De La Hoya a second time when there are more deserving challengers out there? Oscar was an awesome fighter in his prime and is still a pretty good fighter, but was just beat by the better fighter the first time and Oscar isn't really that active of a fighter anymore. Didn't Floyd say that a fight with Cotto wouldn't bring in that much money? How would that be when pretty much every boxing fan on the planet wants this fight to happen more than any other fight right now and the fight itself would draw awesome PPV numbers.
You're stupid ... there is nothing in a PBF v Mosley match ... quit holding on to a dream. Mosley is done ... no matter what he does against Judah. He will be able to beat some up and coming fighters but a fight against Floyd is out of the question. He killed his chances losing to Cotto ... he can try to come at Cotto for a rematch or go after Quintana but Floyd is so far ahead of this guy it makes no sense. And a win over Mosley only brings more criticism, no money or fan fair ... Actually a win over Mosley would be better of than a second victory over DLH. Mosley is not only the better fighter, he also has bested DLH twice. Eventhough he lost a close fight to Cotto, that still doesnt mean he isnt a viable opponent for Mayweather. If PBF was able to fight guys like Mitchell and Judah coming off embarrasing losses, then a Mosley fight shoudnt be a problem.
Yeah ... Gomez shouldn't win this fight on paper ... Cotto is entering as the betting favorite. When it comes to comparing a fight with Gomez to a fight w/ DLH ... there's none. DLH at the age of 34-35 ... he's better than both of these guys. He's more accomplished, has more fans, and can produce more money for everyone involved. Now Cotto or Gomez can't do that ... Neither of these guys are chumps -- they're professional boxers ... but they're clearly on different level. I read somewhere that a win over Gomez and Margarito v Cintron winner puts him and his WW resume' further ahead of PBF. This reminds me of that talk of Juan Diaz ... totally discrediting Casamayor and saying that Diaz should be considered the champ. Now that he's lost to Diaz and given that Campbell's old and was supposed to be washed up and he lost to Casa ... brings Casa back to the spotlight. Cotto isn't accomplishing anything by beating Gomez ... thats why he's not going to beat Gomez ... there's more for Gomez to gain by winner than Cotto winning.
