Ryan Rhodes winning the other night really got me remembering the good old days so with a little respect for the oldies, who is your favourite veteran still active today and what do you envisage them achieving before the end of there careers? I have gone for Rhodes. He has alway been my favorite of those fighters and with his recent success I hope he achiev's abit more and goes some way to grab what I thought he could when I first saw him fight. Great list Jeff. I like Dean Francis too. I hope he gets a few decent fights but I doubt his shoulder will hold when he steps up in class. Him vs Clinton Woods would be good to watch.
I liked Sinky. I used to be a power addicted, him and Wayne Alexander. We're missing any young guys now who, while maybe not top level boxers, could just starch people like that :bbb
Yeah your completely right.... Lots of well schooled youngsters coming through but no major bangers. Its seems like a million years since we had Lueshing, Alexander, Francis, Williams, Samuals, Ryan, Richie Evatt, Steve Murray and Mike Gomez punching holes in decent durable guys. Michael Gomez springs to mind - his career has been a bit of a rollercoaster! Seems like he has been around forever - must be at least 10+ years as a pro. Has the opportunity to avenge his defeat against Peter McDonagh for the Irish Title in May. :good
Ryan Rhodes, I liked him on the way up at 154 but it was obvious he was never going to make a world class middleweight. Hopefully he can win some titles at 154 before he retires.
