A preening primadonna with a padded record, sure. But also a very slick, skilled fighter that was hard to look good against at his peak. How good was he do you think? Does his talent exceed his accomplishement?

I think he was a good fighter, but no where as good as his countrymen think he is. He didnt fight anyone good outside of european fighters. Toney,Mccallum,Jones,R johnson or some of the guys at lheavy he never fought. GOod fighter but he should not be ever considered a future HOF guy

Because they were a bunch of frauds, either above their best fighting weight, old or both at that time.

it would easier to argue McCallum avoided Hagler than the other way around, if you really wanted to.

He sure moved up quick from the legendary junior middle division when Marv retired.

His name was actually Eubanks, until he got it changed.

:nono Some people say that but dont believe it. It was just a$$$ thing why fight Mccallum when they could make 10 times more money fighting each other Hagler,Leonard,Duran,Hearns were making big $$ fighting each other Mccallum didnt bring a buzz or the $$ like these guys

    same with toney....

eubank was a very big guy, heavily built, lifted weights and looked very solid even at cruiser....he did not move up so he didnt fight hagler or mccallum. not just that the guy was a complete novice when these guys were almost finished.
