Does anybody think possible lingering effects from covid cost Berchrelt

I wouldn't be surprised if it played a part, but Valdez's performance first, and the then weight cut have to be the major reasons here.

 

The weight cut. Berchelt was never a good puncher and his power was overrated imo. He replied on volume. But his shots had almost nothing on them from the opening bell.

 

Since anecdotal evidence is what matters here, I know a 70 year old who got Covid and still going healthy as he was before it.

 

Smaller faster beats bigger and slower, ask Canelo, ohh wait they have the same trainer...

 

As other have said , the massive weight cut and gain. Maybe it mad him slower than usual. He was so damn slow. He wasn't the fastest guy out there but he was extra slow in that fight.

 

He looked in incredible shape.
If there was anything wrong, its that the weight cuts may have caught up with him.

I saw an interview with Jono Carroll recently who sparred with Berchelt in the past and said the guy looks like a middleweight walking around.

 

Ha! to have "lingering COVID effects" you have to have been really , really sick.

Berchelt never had any symptoms....a slight sniffle I might have remembered reading?

He was perfectly fine...Eddy Reynoso's famous Mexican beef will turn any normal man into a rag doll.

 

You can be assured that the liberals at ESPN would have reminded us between every round and during the whole fight build up of Berchelts "crusade surviving the bubonic plague" if he had actually been sick.

In fact, there isn't one documented case of any elite athlete in professional sports who truly had a serious battle against the china flu.

Not one was hospitalized or reported bed ridden for days or weeks. Berchelt certainly never ever insinuated actually being sick let alone in a battle.

 

I have to disagree. Berchelt always had good power. Did you hear the punches he landed on Sosa? He is a thudding puncher, not a one-hitter quitter puncher. Berchelt does not have explosiveness behind his shots but his shots are still very painful.
