Even here I strongly disagree, but there are many fighters at lower weights who peaked considerably higher than Tyson.

I disagree. Prime for prime Larry would not have beaten Muhammad but it would have been a very competitive bout. A good chessmatch style boxing class early on then both guys' warrior mentality would take over and we would have a war.

I rate Holmes very highly by the way - second or third greatest heavyweight of all time.

Well considering Ali got pushed to the limit in 3 fights with Chinny Ken Norton, he would have no way to deal with a fighter like Duran who wasnt a one dimensional trick pony. Ali was not quicker than Leonard, and Leonard didnt decide to go toe to toe thats revisionist history, check out Springs Toledos book the Gods of War. Duran was past his best when he beat Leonard as a lightweight he was even better.

Ali was P4P faster than Leonard. You say he wasn’t I say he was…I believe I’m right and you believe I’m wrong. Stalemate on that. But it’s a moot point anyway as you say Duran was past his best when he fought Leonard.

As for Norton…if I bring up Duran losing to Kirkland Laing or getting destroyed by Tommy Hearns, you’ll say he was past his best when he fought them.
Same applies to Ken Norton. Ali was also years past his best. Be consistent in your argument…either your talking Prime v Prime or you’re not. If you are give me a Duran time frame for when he was prime and we can compare properly to Ali in his prime.
If not, and you want to bring up Norton, then we’ll talk Laing or Hearns or Leonard or whichever one of Duran’s 16 losses I care to remember.

So make up your mind…Prime or not prime.

Tyson`s speed at heavyweight was insane, if he had been born a welter or middle he would have been untouchable.

No, Leonard`s speed was freaky, Tyson`s combo speed was quicker than Ali`s.

We can debate Tyson and Ali all day…I’ve got much respect for them both. Tysons combo speed on the inside was crazy. Ali’s foot speed was out of this world and his jab was like a bullet.

As for Leonard’s speed…I’m comparing prime Ali at around 210-ish and Leonard
150-ish P4P. Ali was on average around 60lb heavier…so obviously SRL would be quicker in real terms. But P4P, no way.

Cooper could almost match Ali`s speed.

I'm at a loss as to why Norton is considered chinny. Apart from Jose Luis Garcia those who stopped him were big punchers. Ken stood up really well to Ali and Holmes' shots. They may not have been big bangers but were hardly powder puff punchers either.
