This guy was listed as 6 foot sometimes 5 11’ in his earlier career. He is dwarfed by 6 3’ Ali (fair enough) however he is almost equally dwarfed by 6 1’ Cooper. Shorter than other 6 foot guys he boxed Quarry and Chuvello. Significantly shorter than listed 6 1’ Liston. To me looks about the same as Bonevena who’s listed as 5 10 and half. We know he won the Olympic gold as a middleweight as a kid and started his pro career as a lightheavy so not a BIG guy. He never weighed as much as 14 stone I don’t think his whole career which ended when he was 37. Could he of added a couple of inches to his slight frame to pass himself off as heavyweight
Joe Frazier looked taller than Floyd in photos. https://www.alamy.com/boxer-smokin-...e-with-liver-cancer-joseph-image65117007.html
Probably 5'11" based on what I've seen. He looks to be a shade shorter than Frazier, the same height as Marciano, and taller than Tyson. So yeah 5'11".
Seems a lot of heights of fighters seem to be inaccurate. https://www.alamy.com/boxer-smokin-...e-with-liver-cancer-joseph-image65117007.html https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/382383824589103961/
I do not understand why this never came up before? It’s as obvious as anything that Floyd was not 6 foot. Where is @mcvey when you need a tape measurement?
Floyd was a very small heavyweight (short and not extremely muscular). You have to give him lots of credit for fighting much bigger men.
https://us.canvasartrocks.com/produ...erson-and-henry-cooper-canvas-print-or-poster Floyd looks like he’s much smaller than cooper. Supposedly he was 2lb heavier than cooper as well. It’s incredible how well Patterson did against so many good heavyweights when you realise how small he was. People obviously cared far less about size difference in those days. Back then class told more than size.
I’m not disputing that, but in his first 20 fights or so obviously still as a physically maturing young man Floyd was fighting in the 160’s
