I'd go with Joe in a very physically draining fight .I could also see Ike busting up Frazier s face and Joe been stopped on his feet ,half blind .That's a possibility imo .
Bad bad matchup for Frazier. At some time in the fight, Ibeabuchi would make him do the Foreman-Jojo, ending in a stoppage under modern rules.
Fraizer UD points I'd say KO but Ike had a bloody good chin However the exchanges would be a thing of beauty for both Technical and Slugfest fans Ike probably wins the first 6 rounds with his very underrated jab and uppercut to keep Fraizer honest I feel Joe wins due to him peaking over 6 rounds and over 15 that's 7/8 rounds of being pummeled by his Left hook and that builds up points. Don't get me wrong both would pick up rounds all across the fight but it'd look like Tua-Ike and i think it would have close rounds that are almost as difficult to score as Del a Hoya vs Whitaker
Frazier kicks Ike's overrated ass. Joe Frazier has become so underappreciated that it's crazy. Ike LOST to Tua. He showed NOTHING in that fight that would make pick him over the 69-71 Frazier.
I think Ike is overrated here and I also thought Ike-Tua was a draw but I do heavily agree that he showed nothing other than a jab to show he could beat Fraizer Edit: and that Joe's underappreciated
I know it’s sacrilege since Frazier was an ATG and Ike’s career was cut so short, but I can’t see any likely outcome other than Ibeabuchi winning by stoppage.
Considering Frazier is several levels better then Tua I’d have to go with Frazier...not enough from Ike is known to say stoppage or decision but def Frazier.
This is about levels. Frazier was legitimately proven at one level. The highest level. In a good era. And Ike was Only on the cusp of reaching a level below this. So I don’t think it is fair on Ike. From what we saw of Frazier at his best, he was nigh on unbeatable and cleaned out a very strong era., Chuvalo, Bonavena, Quarry, Ellis And then Muhammad Ali. ibeabuchi? He was where Frazier was if beat to Bonavena then his career halted right after the breakthrough win over Chuvalo. Can you imagine trying to make a case for Frazier against anyone if that was all he did? Sure Ike looks all muscley and in two bouts showed that he had moves enough to perhaps become something. But we never found out what that was. Without more to go on I think Ike deserves to be rated alongside guys that showed initial promise like Steve Hamas, Charley Retzlaff, Pat Comiskey, Charlie Powell, Cleveland Williams, Boone Kirkman, Jeff Merritt, Mike Williams, and maybe Gerry Cooney at a push.
Excellent points. I think due to how entertaining and varied the Tua fight was (and it was fairly recent compared to Fraizer) as well as how he dismantled Byrd that people bring him up and also it's unavoidable that he's brought up because he stopped fighting
Tua was no Frazier, that being said after seeing ike take tuas best shots unfazed I'm not confident he gets knocked out by him either, if he dropped Ali he could very well drop ike however but I'll go with Frazier by a wide u.d.
So which of those men do you pick to knock out Chris Byrd in 5 and to beat David Tua in a record-breaking toe-to-toe slugfest?
Ike was a giant heavyweight with very good power, extraordinary durability and stamina, very good punch variety, very good handspeed for his size, and good technique, balance, and athleticism. But once Frazier unleashes his ATG super powers, Ibeabuchi would be helpless, hopeless, and powerless to do anything but stand there while Joe hits him with hook after hook after hook.
