Usyk showed why he was always #1 PFP when he dismantled AJ in his own backyard. The size difference between these two was immense and Usyk made it look easy. Canelo should drop to the bottom of the list but should still be on it. PFP fighters don’t get dominated like Canelo did. Of course if the three blind mice judges are involved, Canelo keeps his top spot. They don’t actually watch the fights, they just go by guy feel like the Canelo nut huggers do. They can explain to you why a it was a razor close fight even though it appeared Canelo was dominated and only won a round, maybe two. Doesn’t matter, he dared to fight a guy who walks around at the same weight as Canelo. That type of bravery should not go unnoticed.
First of all, Bivol is a much better much more difficult opponent than AJ. AJ is much easier to outbox than Bivol, trying to equate beating AJ to beating Bivol is mad. Bivol could probably move up to HW and beat AJ. He's that good. Usyk has never fought anybody as good as Bivol and certainly not while moving up multiple weight classes like Canelo did. And 115-113 isn't a domination. Canelo fought very well for a 168-lber fighting at 175, just not good enough to win.
But size doe. AJ was consistently ranked #2 at HW and Usyk beat him in his own backyard. AJ is MUCH bigger and heavier than Usyk. Or does size differential only matter when your guy is the smaller fighter? He’s not a HW doe. I loved the Canelo chirping about fighting Usyk. I’d pay double to watch that fight. PFP fighters don’t get dominated like Canelo did in that fight. It was shocking to see so many experts get it wrong.
When you say dominated, you mean gassing. If it was shocking to see Canelo gas like he did, it should have been predictable if you watched the Kovalev fight. The problem was that he tired in the later rounds, fans throw around the word dominated a lot. He just didn't have hs normal energy and stamina as the fight wore on and lost rounds. He still hung in there and kept it competitve even while getting outlanded by a much better pure boxing at a higher weight class. No shame in that, and it shoudn't have been that shocking to see him be more gassed and vulnerable at 175. Most people never in their wildest dreams thought he would be fighting at 175 when he beat GGG. When he moved up to 168 and fought Fielding they said there are weight classes for a reason and he'd never succeed there. We need to understand that Canelo fighting at the full 175 is madness, the fact that he was even remotely competitive vs Bivol at that weight just shows how incredible of an athlete he is, taht he can carry his weight up multiple weight classes, it's pretty amazing considering that he was still fighting at 154 less than 6 years ago.
Canelo was thoroughly outboxed and looked one dimensional the whole night. When plan A didn’t work, he doubled down and had no answers. I was surprised because I thought Canelo would adapt but I guess he put too much faith in the corrupt judges he thought would gift him the victory. I don’t blame him, it’s worked before. Bivol looked surprised at how easy it was and shocked he actually got the narrow (only on paper) decision. If the tables were turned, the same judges would have given Canelo every round. Bivol didn’t have a scratch on his face and finger balls wore shades to the post fight presser. Was he expecting sun? Canelo landed less punches than I’ve ever seen him land. He was dominated worse than Mikey when he fought Spence. And it almost worked. Almost.
So we can take it from this that your first criteria for p4p is skin colour? Because on no planet are Spence and Stevenson number 2 & 3 .. Spence LOL.. he just nearly got chinned by a 45 year old Cuban & wont even challenge himself against the divisions best
Bivol didn't say it was easy. He said Canelo was much better than he thought and that "he punch every time hard". Bivol didn't have a scratch on his face, can't say the same about his arm, but yes, Canelo landed less punches than he normally does, and why was that? Bivol has great defense, he's hard to land clean on, we knew this going on. Not only that he gassed in the later rounds which affected his punch totals. Do you know how many punches Joe Smith landed on Bivol? Joe Smith landed only 39 and only connected at 10%. Canelo did much better than Smith, landing over twice as many punches on Bivol, 84 punches at 17% and had a 43-15 advantage in landed body punches. Bivol landed 209 punches on Joe Smith, against Canelo only 152. Canelo punches harder than Bivol, he was the one really loading up so Canelo's shots had more mustard on them, something that casual compubox punch counters don't understand.
He’s a great fighter but sucks that he couldn’t put a period the weight classes you just listed. Jr middleweight failed to fight for wbo as boo boo’s mandatory, failed to box the Charlos. At middleweight before fighting at that weight he kept saying how he wanted to unify the weight had his chance to box boo boo to complete that and ran away. Moves like that really hurt you. You go box a bigger guy who boxes his ears off tells you why he didn’t want ti box boo boo
They were competitive, not close. There is a huge difference in that. And his run wouls not have exist if he wasnt paying the judges. And its not just the GGG fights, but Lara, Trout, alao his stipulation and stecking the deck heavily in his favor. The guy is a fraud and was exposed. His fans should be quiet after all the time they were on high and talking nonsenses.
