I don’t know to be honest?but I don’t think anyone expected him to start knocking everyone out as he’s never needed to.For what it’s worth I think his power is adequate.

Funny enough I was thinking this earlier when someone brought Chisora up.Styles makes fights and all that and Whyte can box, make no mistake, his jab has improved outta sight.
I think everyone’s thinking about Usyk would be that his speed and movement would make up for the size disparity and to be fair we saw him do this against Joyce albeit in a limited number of rounds.

His task is enormous though imo.My mind always goes back to Wlad v Povetkin to see what a super heavyweight can do by rough housing a smaller man.

Well, you have it here in writing from me. If the fight happens, the bet is on. I think Whyte's a little too crude to land on Usyk enough. He isn't going to stand and trade like Chisora did, so I wouldn't be overly worried. I think he can make Whyte miss plenty and Whyte has shown before he can statr blowing in the later rounds. Usyk tends to turn it up in those rounds, so long as he doesn't get reckless early on I think he outpoints Whyte.

I'm not sure who these guys are that seem to be petrified in the corner after 4 rounds against Whyte, maybe it works to his disadvantage though. He never gets dropped before the 4th after all.

Usyk has good power, he rarely nerds to use it. He rarely ever throw big hooks or rarely does he wind up on his punches

You raise a good point. He hardly ever loads up on his punches. He is content with scoring on you and then not being there for the return counterpunch.

Its more of a style seen in the AMs. Loma is not so different. Ukranian school I guess. It works for those guys obviously. Still, it would great to see him occasionally load up when the opportunity represents itself.

I'm not saying he is throwing exactly arm punches but he doesnt fully commit his body to the punch either. Somewhere in between.

Beating a dead horse here but that could be an issue at heavyweight. The inability to put the big guys away means he is going to have to out box them over a lot of rounds without making a mistake.

All is it takes is one mistake. Ask Fury, Spilka and so many other who were out boxing there opponent and then made a mistake or had a lapse in concentration.

Think Bill Conn vs Joe Louis. Hard to be perfect through a long 12-15 fight.

I think as long as he keeps the heavyweights honest, he should be fine at HW. We need to see him in vs Chisora, Whyte or Kownacki, guys who put the pressure on you and have iron chins, If Usyk can keep them honest with his power then he should have no problems keeping AJ, Wilder and Fury honest.

I think Loma loads up a lot on his bodyshots, thats why they’re so brutal.

Coming back to usyk, even the KO punch vs Bellew didnt have a lot of hip or power behind it, it was just perfectly placed

I agree Usyk's timing and shot placement is very good. It's more about that for him than swinging for the fences.

Usyk vs Kownacki is an interesting one. Kownacki doesnt have a deep skillset but he is heavy, durable and game as hell.

With the large Polish and Ukranian populations in Chicago that is a guaranteed sellout. Those countries have some history together which makes marketing the fight easier.

Winning fighter's country gets to keep Lwow/Lviv. Just kidding but the ethnic angle would sell.

Kownacki is nowhere near Usyk's skill level but thus far has shown he is capable of mauling someone for ten rounds and maybe wearing them down.

Usyk takes it but has to work hard over 10-12 rounds as Kownacki is s PITA type of guy who doesnt seem to have any quit in him.

So here, after Chisora lands 100's of the SAME punches that dropped Spilka and Takam, Chisora is drained phsyically/ mentally and dispirited as he looks to his corner in dismay:

Parker here, after coming out extremely strong and with venom, like he has never displayed in the opening rounds of a fight before, in a bid to put Whyte out early... he looks to his corner woefully and with confusion as if to say... why is he still standing, this is not going to plan guys?

Parker also gassed earlier than Whyte by a lot, even though Whyte pushed the pace harder and consistently for all rounds, he didnt take rounds off. Yet people say Whyte has bad gas tank, I KNOW YOU HAVENT SAID THIS... just adding this here for passers by

And now Rivas looking to his corner like WTF! after he tasted Whyte's onslaught for the first time in their fight by someone clearly he thought was inferior to him:

    --------------------------------------------------
Joseph Park on Whyte's power, not just the left hook:

“Well obviously Dillian dropped me,” he told talkSPORT Fight Night, “So of course he hits really hard.

“There was a lot of punches that he threw in the fight that got me stunned, but I just fought back.

“Joshua didn’t land any heavy blows so I’ll be on Dillian’s side. He was the harder hitter.”

Joseph has a granite chin, big boned, 245 pound...and is very fast/mobile for a heavyweight.

Usyk aint taking that punishment if we are realisticm because he aint any faster or mobile or more durable than Parker at 210 pounds

You are dreaming, if you think Usyk keeps Whyte honest with his power.

    DREAMING.

Whyte has taken heavy punishment that not many else have taken, and he has always returned with the same power or more.

Of course Usyk's lack of power will hurt him, but the real question is whether it will make him *lose*. And it's too early to say.

I was concerned with the fact that he wants to fight at HW the way he did at CW, which is to rely heavily on movement. Given that some of the elite really are just looking to land single shots, I think Usyk's movement can be predictable and might actually hurt him. The alternative would be to cut some of the movement but look to stay in the pocket more often, as a lot of these HWs can't sustain a tempo.

You can easily envision him winning every round but slowing down slightly, staying in place without a plan, and getting stopped in the 8-12th. His lack of power means he has little margin for error. But he's skilled as hell with immense championship pedigree. It would be foolish to dismiss him.

Another very normal and rational and not in anyway insane post, I'm glad the brand is going.

We've got our bet in place should the two meet, that's all there is to it. Hopefully Whyte can stay clean this time as I know these former kickboxers love to dope.
