Unless Adam Smith is putting on an act I really don't think Sky are that concerned with not having fights like these. Would they like them? Yes but they won't pay huge money to have fights at 4am.
I cannot see Callum winning. I personally think weight making will catch up with him, and soon. I think Canelo will stop him within 6 rounds. Body shots, will deplete the tank very quickly, followed by a ko. I genuinely hope I am wrong and Smith can pull it off. Going off what I have seen most recently, Ryder fight, I just cannot see it happening for Smith.
Me neither tbh however Smith has the height, reach, skill and enough pop if used correctly to keep Canelo at bay. Can't see it happening though. This is the fight of his life, hopefully ring rust and weight issues don't affect his performance. He simply has to turn up and perform, anything less and he gets stopped after the half way point.
The sport needs a Smith win if you ask me, Alvarez bouncing around the divisions, picking the easier fights and picking up the belts has to stop.
There are many things Canelo can be criticised for, but I'd say taking easy fights definitely isn't one of them.
If Callum performs like he did in the George Groves, Hassan N'dam N'Jikam, Rocky Fielding and Hadillah Mohoumadi fights he can win.
I suppose easier isn't the best way to describe them but he wanted a belt at Super Middleweight and went for Rocky Fielding, he then wanted a belt at Light Heavyweight and went for a partially shot Kovalev.
Think the big problem will be will gallagher allow smith to use his natural fighting abilities or will he be stuck with one of joes masterclass gameplans. The dont punch till the fight gets to a certain point one. The give nothing away one he often pulls out for the big stage. They tactics probably give smith the better chance to stay in the fight longer. But surely you need to go with tactics that can win you the fight at this stage. Obviously you ve to be careful because its canelo. But smith with his size etc needs to go out there with the intention of hurting him. Could well end up an earlier night not in his favour but if you,ve any real intention to win the fight imo...you need to put smith out there looking to hurt him as opposed to trying to nullify looking for a 1 in a 100 chance of getting a bit lucky. Think joe tends to overthink the big ones. Nothing wrong with using his tactics at times but more when your trying to get the big shots as opposed to when you actually get the big shots.
Time certainly did not wait for our new Callum Smith fan on the forum - Paul Smith could have been a bit more discreet in his praise of the Mundane One.
