The cut on USyK's face you are referring was a small thing It was more or less like that one suffered by Ruiz in the second fight in Arabia. However with a cut on the face you can do even 12 rounds like did Fury with Wallin or Ruiz with Joshua. With an eye socket broken instead you can fight maximum for 3 or 4 rounds and Joshua was lucky that USyK broke his face around the 9th.
That only further proves that Joshua has no chance in the rematch. He's holding up undisputed. If he steps aside thats a free few million and he can get a crack at the winner. Who wouldn't take that
This. Joshua is guaranteed a titleshot and millions of dollars against Usyk in the rematch, so gambling on Fury keeping his word given his track record isn’t going to happen.
He's also guaranteed another loss on his record fighting Usyk again, this time by stoppage. Realistically speaking stepping aside and fighting a tune up or two to gain back some confidence is whats best for Joshua. And then he can get a crack at the winner. He's holding up undisputed with this rematch anyway
Good for Fury to announce what everyone wants to see next; Fury vs Usyk for all the marbles, and AJ can get the winner. That is a solid plan and Joshua should take it. Give the fans what they want, whats best for the sport.
All this mess for revenge, fame and money could incredibly favor USyK who on the sly and in a short time could beat the two braggart before retiring as ATG and one of the best 5 HWs ever (and maybe as the best P4P ever) and enjoying the money made with the skyrocketing of his futuristic clothing line that is already going very well.
This obviously is not going to happen. Wilder was asking for what? $20m? So that would be just the starting point for Joshua. Joshua gets to fight Usyk next. He is going to make a shed load of money win, lose or draw. His biggest payday so far was the Ruiz Jr. rematch ($60m). And even if he loses, Fury would want to fight him down the line, because Joshua is the money man in the division, and that fight would make money. So the question is, how much are they willing to pay Joshua to walk away from a gargantuan payday against Usyk? The answer is: they can't afford it.
Joshua isn’t holding up anything considering Usyk agreed to the rematch clause when he signed to fight Joshua. Also, Usyk beating Joshua in a rematch isn’t guaranteed. Joshua has the tools to beat Usyk and regain his titles, so it’s premature to assume Usyk automatically wins. Fury also has a history of weaseling out of contracts. Hypothetically speaking even if Joshua was entertaining the idea of stepping aside I don’t see Joshua or Hearn being crazy enough to trust Fury or willingly put Joshua’s career in limbo. This is the same Fury that didn’t honor his rematch clause with Wlad and also unsuccessfully tried weaseling out of the rematch clause with Wilder.
Joshua didn't have that many fans on this board, especially after the loss to Ruiz. Usyk's chances were mocked although he had his faithful supporters. If by chance Usyk loses the rematch he will be deemed a tomato can (like Kovalev). @Toney F*** U has great faith in Joshua, more than even Hearn does.
Of course Joshi isn't stepping aside, that would be totally bonkers (to use a Bri'ish expression). He's going to earn a lot of money on the rematch, win or lose, plus the chance to win his titles back and partially restore his brand for even bigger paydays. How much step-aside money would it take? Probably a hell of a lot more as Arum/Fury would want to put up, or even earn back. Also, history has shown that stepping aside hardly ever favors the guy doing the side-stepping in the bigger fights, and I'm pretty sure both camps are aware of that.
