The first round or two will be competitive but once Frazier gets into his rhythm he’ll gradually wear Morrison down and take him out.
    Two different levels of fighter.

You do know that Tommy Morrison got kayoed brutally by Michael Bentt in one round, don't you?

Give Frazier Tommy's drugs and I could honestly see him running him out of the ring. Joe was naturally the bigger man, faster, tougher. Morrison got splattered by Ray Mercer. I like Ray but he was a decent puncher, no more. Morrison was the only guy he was able to do that to. Tommy had a habit of making ordinary punchers look like they were packing dynamite.

Joe is just more of a fighting man. Put it this way, he was getting the shite kicked out of him by a prime Foreman and kept charging back into the wheelhouse. Tommy faced a version 20 years on and 'ran like a thief', as Liston may have said. Now you might say that was intelligent and showed adaptability but anyone who has to run from a 44 year old man who hadn't fought in over a year since getting his face bashed in by Alex Stewart is not going to have the necessary mindset to brutally kayo Joe Frazier.

Take away the win over a shot to **** Ruddock and what are we looking at that's supposed to impress us so much? I'm not seeing it.

Frazier by TKO between 7 and 10.

So what ? It was just one match and it's irrelevant.

No he wasn't. Tommy was both taller and bigger.

    Highly debatable.

So what ? Mercer would have beat Frazier too.

Only a moron would stand there to slug it out toe to toe with Foreman.
Morrison was smart no to go toe to toe with Foreman, he wouldn't be afraid of the "puny" Frazier (by comparison to Foreman I mean).

The same can be said about Frazier if you take away his Ali win.

Not in a million years, Frazier was too weak to be able to do that.

People need to remember that Joe Frazier holds the single greatest victory in the division's history. Repeat that to yourself before you say something stupid.

I think Joe Frazier is a colossal favorite here. Might be an entertaining brawl for a few rounds though

I think it should also be noted that Tommy actually ran away, like, with his back turned at times. Vs a 45 year old fossil from two eras before. And that Joe Hipp, shattered the lower half of Morrison's face. Or that Carl Williams, a notoriously classy chinned non-puncher, took his best for eight rounds and yo-yo'd him in the fifth. Or that Ross Purity had him all over the place. Or a guy who was KOed in one by Jerry Jones, and who's best win prior was an ancient Wills (who'd never win another fight) KOed him... in less than three minutes.

Agree on all accounts. Tommy Morrison at his pinnacle was an entertaining fringe contender but not someone who should be favored to beat Joe Frazier

A Fight Of The Century Joe Frazier would run over Tommy Morrison like a locomotive enroute ti it's destination in a hurry. Joe was determined not to be defeated that night. Morrison though taller, would not be the first tall opponent that Joe has fought, remember Mando Ramos in 1968? Joe has taken the best from Oscar Bonavena, George Chuvalo, and Jerry Quarry. Not to mention, Muhammad Ali. I see Joe chopping down Morrison by unmercifully attacking his body, while unleashing that brutal left hook. Joe chops down Tommy in round 9, the tall tree goes, TIMBER.

Tommy went life and death with Joe Hipp. Joe Frazier destroys him.

Frazier would have Tommy hurt, bleeding and crashing down in around 6 round.
Morrison may faze Joe in the early stages, may even find himself on the floor.
But only a matter of time before Joe warms up to batter Tommy.

Whomever land their best first. Morrison could upset if Frazier who was known for some slow starts give him the opportunity.

If the fight makes it past 5 rounds, Frazier is the smart play. I'd go with Frazer to win, with Morrison having a legit chance early.

Morrison gets short changed in this forum. His power was A plus, he had very fast hands and was reasonably good boxer. Big compared to fighters from the 1960's too.

    Me too.

Getting knocked out by Michael Bentt in one round is irrelevant? It says a lot.

And it's not like it was a one off. Morrison went life and death with Purrity, Williams, Hipp. Even his signature win over a shot Ruddock could easily have gone the other way.

And to say that taking away Joe's win over Ali leaves nothing...? If that was all he had done, it would far eclipse Morrison's career of near misses against mediocrities. To disregard the likes of Ellis, Quarry, Bonavena, Chuvalo whom Joe has on his ledger is little short of disrespectful. If only Johnny could only have as high an opinion of some of those stellar names as he has of himself, he might write more informed posts.

And finally, Joe was the bigger man. Joe boiled down hard to reach his optimum weight of around 210lbs. Tommy had to beef up, with the help of steroids, to get to that weight. He just packed on a load of artificial muscle and we saw how much use that was when he got tapped on the chin by relatively light hitters.

George Foreman couldn't brutally kayo Joe despite hitting him with his best punch dozens of times. I wonder if you were to ask George if he thinks that the man who ran from the middle-aged, inactive version of himself could do what the prime version of himself from 20 years - 20 YEARS!! - previously couldn't do, what would he say? A man who is being dominated by a prime Foreman but won't stay down does not get brutally kayoed by Tommy Morrison.

Now. Put the prime version of Joe in there with Morrison, not the flabby, over-confident and unmotivated version that Foreman faced. I don't think I could watch tbh. I'd go and pour myself a glass of water while the fight was on so I wouldn't have to see it.
