By the time that Hearn put these two together headlining a PPV show it will be 2023. Okolie by then after Whyte has lost to a Wilder or someone else and is looking more of a gatekeeper..
Whyte is a lot bigger and a lot stronger. Octopus Okolie has some serious power but he doesn’t let his hands go enough. If he tries his cuddling routine with Whyte he is too small by comparison and he will get dragged around, pushed against the ropes and beat up. I would see Whyte winning very very clearly if the bout stops any time soon.
Whyte will turn out to be a gatekeeper like Chisora is now. Thats not a slight on either fighter but he will end up with several losses on his record. He's a handful and fun to watch but he's just a game slugger. How people slate Wilder's fundamentals but give Whyte a pass I will never understand. They are so alike in the way they almost fall over whilst swinging for the trees. Okolie is awful to watch but he's improving. He has self preservation and recognises that he's under threat. He has legitimate power with them long levers and at 6"5 could easily fill out into a 16 stone fighter. For me he will achieve more in terms of belts than Whyte.
I can see Danny Williams of durability levels with Whyte. He does look very vulnerable at the moment. Hypothetically if he doesn't tighten up his defense, he's gonna get seriously damaged in there. I still think he's very much the same fighter that lost to Joshua a few years ago. Conditioning wise he's fatter than ever.
If we break it down he's been dropped by AJ, Povetkin, Rivas and Parker - 2 of those being renown big punchers. He lost 2 of those fights whilst also winning 2. He clearly has a problem with the uppercut given that was the shot AJ, Rivas and Povetkin all through and on all 3 occasions its like he just didn't see the shot........and as we all know the shots you don't see coming are the ones that switch the lights off. The one with Parker in the 12th round was more taking a knee through exhaustion and taking time off the clock if anything. The Povetkin fight, he was seemingly in control and just got hit with a money punch that would've dropped a horse. One of them things. To be honest, Whyte for me has shown he'll jump in with anyone and he has one of the best resumes in the division..... but he needs to be more switched on and address the uppercut because any opponent with any sort of sense should be looking for that shot against him.
