What does Wilder need to do to beat Fury in their 3rd fight?

First off let me start by saying I think Fury will win the third fight. I don't know how, I suspect he'll play keep away like he did against Klitschko, but as Fury's second fight with Deontay demonstrates, you never can be sure what Fury will do, and the recent wins by Povetkin vs Whyte and the first Joshua vs Ruiz fights have shown, you can't write anyone off in the heavyweight division. We don't need comments like Wilder doesn't have a chance etc.... that's been beaten to death. I'd like a rational discussion on the matter please explaining, however unlikely it may be, what Deontay needs to do to secure a win. Whether he can implement it is another story.

It's obvious to me that Fury is the better boxer so Deontay has to turn it into a fight. He has shown heart in his defeat, having the fight stopped while still on his feet. I thought Deontay looked slow against Ortiz and even slower against Fury in the rematch. I think he needs to lose that 20lbs of muscle he put on recently. Wallin had success against Fury going to the body and may have stolen it in the last round had he stuck to his game plan, but he lost focus due to the cut. To be fair, Fury fought out of his game too because of the cut. Wilder needs to work Fury's body more this time around and maintain a fast pace.

Lastly, I think Wilder needs to work his jab more and hook to the body. Deontays jab can be pretty decent at times and will help set up his other shots. If Deontay were to win I think he will have to go through hell to do it, making sacrifices while going to the body, moving and maintaining that fast pace. Again, I'm looking for ways that you think Wilder can win, not the standard he's a bum, got no chance yada yada yada.

Why would Fury change the tactic that Wilder had absolutely no answer for, and blew him away with? I think Fury comes right at him again, and makes Wilder do something to change his mind.

All Wilder can do is land a big right hand. I dont think that there are any real tactical changes possible for him, as he obviously doesn't listen to instruction. He is what he is, and the fight should play out pretty similar to the 2nd.

I don't think he can. We've already seen that Fury can take his best and only weapon at 50%. I am not interested at all, and would much rather see Fury against anybody else, even Agit Kabeyal, Marco Huck, or Evgeny Romanov.

A 90% well Fury beats Wilder 100% of the time. If I am wrong, I am wrong.

There's a distinction between the heart that lets you take a beating without quitting, and a different sort of heart that makes you take a beating and still try to win. Wilder has the first but needs to find the second, if he's still interested in being HW champ which I hope he is.

Fury cuts badly, so he needs his jab. If Fury's brow opens early then he has a real chance.

I agree he should lose the weight, though maybe after all this time he's used to it. Since I don't see him developing an incredible hook so he needs a very fast 1-2.

I'm a little skeptical he'll be able to make a body attack central to his strategy. If he discovered his inner body puncher I guess it would help?

Honestly if I were Wilder I'd just be sending Fury champagne and blow and hope he beats himself.

Not even saying this in a **** take way. Wilder needs to learn to box throw that jab and try to keep fury from standing on his toes again.

Fury totally shut him down last time pressure from round 1. Cut off the ring limited his space. Made Wilder fight a different fight then he is used too

Don't see much changing In the third

Go for broke in the first round or two and hope he lands something big. Otherwise, not a lot I can see him do to be honest.

It would serve Wilder well not letting Fury grab and lean on him. Don't except the clinch. Doesn't take a lot of skill to keep a straight posture. Throw hard punches and be Wild on the inside. Fury, who cuts, may think twice about wanting to hold. Maybe! Fury is leagues above Wilder in skills. Nothing but an up hill journey for Wilder. Fury probably wins 10 rounds.

Realistically I think this may be his best chance. Maybe punch with Fury and hope to win the lotto. He did land a couple decent hooks in the first fight. The right hand caused the damage and the clean up hook put Fury down. I think Fury can be hit pretty easily to the body and Wilder should throw there. I can't remember what success he had in the second, if any. With Wilders physique you would think he would be able to outpace the bigger Fury, but he hasn't shown any significant advantage in stamina. Too much to learn still for Wilder and not enough time to do it. Plus he's getting oldish, 35 - 36 is nearing the cliff. But now it's a third fight against a better boxer and everything is on the line for him. It didn't even seem like he had a plan "A" for Fury the second time, never mind a plan B or C.
I haven't seen many of Furys fights, other than Wallin what fights has he been cut in? That cut sure looked like it opened up easy against Wallin, you would think it will happen again.

Thanks for the replies everyone and thanks for keeping it civil.

I'm so sure he got cut in an early fight against some journeyman and yet besides a bloody nose I can't find it. I'm picturing it above the eyebrow, left side but I could be way off.

Regardless, the Wallin one was bad enough to be remain a problem.

What Wilder needs to do is to have listened to his coaches 5 years ago. I don't think there's anything he can really do at such short notice to significantly increase the odds in his favour. Maybe he could go for broke and try to overwhelm TF through volume early.

Throw a lot of punches, draw Fury into a brawl, in the chaos land a big one before Fury does.
Fury can probably avoid the one cocked RH easier than when gloves are flying all over the place.

The short strategy does seem to be the best one here. He needs to walk into the outside range he loves and start throwing bombs early on. Keep on throwing, step in a bit step out a bit, throw more haymakers.

Draw Fury into some kind of exchanges. Hope he lands something big and Fury buckles, then windmill like crazy and hope the referee steps in or he lands something else.

The long strategy doesnt work, because Wilder lacks any inside fighting strategy at all. His boxing IQ is too low, for him to come out on top. Even he was to learn some tricks on holding on the inside and inside fighting.
