I think the issue is that the dates were likely booked for other fights that never came together. Rather than losing deposits and paying for smaller venues with the TV money and the purses they are likely paying they probably only need to sell 5-6,000 tickets to break even. I have a feeling the February o2 date was booked for Khan-Brook when the were negotiating back in November and this date was likely booked for a Whyte PPV card but the issues with him fighting AJ etc our paid to those dates. If he’s already booked the venue and got the TV dates pencilled in as he needs to deliver a certain number of. Sky cards may as well run with it. I get they want to rebuild Chisora but I expected someone with a little bit of name value even an Eric Molina.
Wasn't Wembley originally booked in this date? Then O2 for Whyte vs Breazele/Povetkin/Ortiz then Chisora vs Parker. All 3 not happening. Since Hearn went to DAZN bragging about money - He has signed no huge names with the big stars doing seperate deals - Sky Sports cards declined massively & a warning from Smith confirmed on IFL Hearn done a very good job but the last year has been really poor.
Going from a double of header of : Whyte Vs Brezeale or Povetkin Chisora vs parker To Chisora vs Gashi Allen vs Browne It really is poor.
I managed Security at the 02 when Bulligoni fought Sumners They only expected 2000 that night as I had to brief staff But they did say that another 1500 plus may turn up in complementary tickets Obviously going to at least break even Hearn wouldn't bother otherwise But don't expect any decent opponents for any Matchroom fighters
This type of card will be par for the course from now on I’m afraid. Disappointed not to see Del Boy in with a higher standard of opponent. Allen/Browne will be fun and Connor Benn is always a ‘fascinating’ watch. Interesting to see the response on social media; vast majority of responses are negative despite the media darling Dave Allen featuring.
It's awful but bizzarely I think it will do well, people like lads lads lads cheeky nandos, bants, Dave Allen for some reason, add Chisora as a name on the card and the average joe will lap it up, wahey lads beers power
Poor show. The standard of the Sky/Matchroom non PPV cards have dropped drastically. This card would be an ok undercard, all that's missing is a credible main event.
