The recent Khan fiasco has people throwing the word 'heart' around. I am curious to know if someone could explain what the word means when using it to describe a boxer. Is it closely related to fear? If so how? Is it possible for someone who isn't a fighter to experience heart or a lack of?
Khan has heart just look at some of the fights he has been in. Hopkins doesn't have heart he quit every time it got hard.
Getting 'floored' over and over again, and still having the guts to continue. But then again, the million dollar question is "What does 'floored' mean to you?!"
Someone's will to never accept defeat. Until they have been defeated Examples Frazier vs Foreman, he'd keep getting up and walking forward just kept at it until the ref waved it off Marciano vs Charles 2, Charles split Marciano's nose in half and his corner told him they couldn't stop the bleeding, he went out the next round and set pace so bad that he KOed Charles, who was the only man to go 15 with him This http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Joe_Jeannette_vs._Sam_McVea Jeanette was brutally beaten, but refused to quit and ended up winning whe McVea did
When the going gets tough, when it feels like your starting to take a beating, when you know youve already lost on the cards, when you keep getting knocked down, when your body is telling you to quit, when you feel like you have gassed completely, when you just want to go home or go to bed. You bite down on your mouthgaurd and you find something from somewhere to ignore all that and keep going, keep trying, keep in the game. Thats heart.
