What sort of screaming oddball 'detests' football coverage because one of the pundits is a woman?

Him bragging that Sky have the women's Ashes is a sad sight to see. Desperate times this.

Oh god, don't get me started on that. I heard a stat on the BBC Sport thing once, it said there was like half a billion watching some women's world cup cricket thing. Yeah BBC, and 499 million of them are from the middle east! They are so proud of those figures despite the fact that very few actually watched in the UK, it was all from places like India and Pakistan where cricket actually matters.

They are really pushing Women's sport. And don't get me wrong, I'm all for it. But you can't have Women's rugby on the BBC Sport bulletins on BBC News, I'm sorry. The fact they show highlights of an empty stadium....it's so obvious that they are promoting these sports because they have women in it. That's not the way for these companies to go about things. League Two has more of a following than the entirety of Women's football and these companies hardly give it any coverage. These sports networks should show things based on their following, it's clear as day that stuff like Women's rugby is not of interest to anybody.

I'm all fine with Women's sports. Tennis for example, I welcome it. I may not particularly like Tennis but it's competitive and watchable, and it clearly has a huge following both in the men's and women's game. Athletics is another, fine. But don't put rugby and cricket down our throats if no-one attends games for starters.

Anyways...onto Adam Smith. I agree he is desperate. He says he's happy with Allen vs Browne but I'm not buying it for a second. That is not an O2 worthy show. They could have put Brook on there to headline it as he really needs some time in the ring right now. But no, we'll leave him for an already insane card in New York. Eddie needs to spread out his stars more. Keep Callum Smith and Kell Brook in the UK for now until something pops up. The UK needs somebody to headline shows.

    Awful.

If they don’t show women’s sports they’ll continue to have very little participants or people even watching it. Remember when you was a kid and you seen a certain sports person who inspired you, and you took an interest in that sport from then on....women’s sports needs that coverage, too, to inspire young girls/women to participate.

I accept the fact that some posters on here do not wanna watch women’s boxing, football or whatever, and no post from me or anyone else is going to change their minds on this....but as a father to a daughter who plays football to county level (and a year up too), it upsets me that she will never get the same opportunities or exposure that a lad can get and that there is a section of men out there who will mock it, who’ll refuse to watch it and who strangely compare it to men’s football...because of that attitude, Liverpool ladies for example play home games in-front of about 600 people. If she goes on to be a pro footballer, she could earn what a trainee teacher earns and her entire career earnings from it wouldn’t come close to what a pro male footballer earns in a week. Isn’t that enough of a kick in the chops that we start whinging about a bit of extra coverage on a website or 1 fight on a boxing bill?

Sorry @MeatFeastMan , I should have posted this on the Katie Taylor thread. Not specifically having a go at you.

He might look like a chartered accountant but i wouldn't want to mess with Adam Smith in this mood. The dude is on the rampage.

I am pleased he clarified that there would be netball on. I was concerned about that,

Hearn is a shyster, but its boxing. It's full of them. It's a disgusting business tbh. But hey that's the drill. When Adam Smith and Sky signed the Matchroom deal they didn't give F about shafting fans. At the time they had the UK boxing market on lock, it was a monopoly. They controlled everything. Now they have stiff competition from BT, PBC/ITV, other streaming platforms. The sport is thriving and healthy. Smith and Sky can F themselves. Hell no, I don't feel sorry for them. Fans got Spence vs Garcia for free on ITV4 this weekend! Up the fans!

Adam Smith's title of Head of Boxing is the oldest trick in the book, like when you promote your PA to office manger and pay her the same money to do the same thing. He has zero power, control, vision or fiscal responsibility, he's just the face of Sky Boxing to keep all the boxing weirdos and pathetic Youtubers away from Barney Francis. Did he choose to stop the weekly show and put it all online? He's a commentator nothing else. Pompous, grandiose and full of hot air like Max Kellerman. DAZN will come here in next 10 years and Sky will either sign with another promoter or stop boxing. Saturday fight night cards are beyond garbage.

    Agreed.

    Whyte/Chisora PPV? Brook/Gavin PPV? Pffft.

Sky are having the rug pulled from under their feet at a phenomenal rate.

I know the darts one you're on about. Can't remember her name but she was simply diabolical. They let her loose on the World Championship last year and canned her after about 2 goes.

Some of you lot have your head so far in the sand it's unreal, talk about memory loss. You have to be too young to know how bad boxing was before Hearn came along with Matchroom. I can't believe someone posted that they preferred boxing back then. What did you prefer? a British title fight headlining with **** all underneath in a leisure centre. Hell you might get lucky with a world title fight from Clinton Woods, or another Frank Warren special Calzaghe defense vs Evans Ashira or Tucker Pudwill. Don't forget Hatton defending his fake WBU title for 20 fights. Or the Sky Box Office special with Cleverly v Murat headlining. Most of the big fights were on at 4am from America, you were extremely lucky to have a big fight in the UK back from 2000-2011. Hell you had to stay up to watch fights in the UK for American TV like Froch v Dirrell or Lacy v Calzaghe. That is what I call a **** take.

There are two good Matchroom UK show's coming up these next two weeks and most of it will be forgotten about. Adam Smith only has himself to blame after saying he wasn't happy with the Cheeseman show in public. Now everyone seems to have jumped on the bandwagon making out there has been a massive decline when there hasn't. If he's worried about DAZN stealing UK boxers then he should lobby Comcast for more money for rights fees. Sky are in charge of the content they put on, they decide whether or not something is good enough to be shown on normal Sky or SBO.
