No not exclusively but those 7 Lbs do factor in when facing a Champion (in his prime / not KOvalev) who is naturally bigger & accustomed to fighting at that weight.
Bivol might have even weight less than clenboy or at least it wouldn’t surprise me. Bivol simply was better.
Nah. Canelo lost fair and square. He got beat to the punch and outboxed by the better man that night. Hats off to Bivol and to Canelo for stepping up to the challenge.
Most people in this forum dont understand boxing, much less weight advantages between the fighters. For one, Canelo at this point in his career is best suited for middleweight. I would categorize him as a small supermiddleweight when he fights in that division. Fighting at lightheavyweight he becomes a very small light heavyweight. Bivol's body frame is suited for the light heavyweight division People need to recognize that prior to Bivol, Canelo had one fight at 175 lbs vs Kovalev on the way out and Canelo did'nt have a easy fight with him. Bivol had the height, reach, and strenghth factor on his side and it showed. When you take that and consider that Bivol is also an exellent fighter those are the results you get.
Imho 2 things happened, he understimated bivol and he has no motivation any longer. In his fight vs plant we could see that he was not focused enough, I think he had the same problem here. Not to talk about bivol being 100 times better than what canelo expected. Btw, props to bivol, ofc, but imho his trainer did even a better job than bivol. Perfect strategy, perfect analysis, simply impeccable.
Yeah including yourself. How about looking into it a little bit more before claiming you're an all knowledgeable bozing fan. I've already debunked this so called bs size advantage Bivol below. Just stop: Canelo explicitly stated he walks around 180lbs and that he'd weigh 178-180lbs fight night at 175lbs (DAZN broadcaster interview, Bivol confirmed he weighed 183lbs fight night). He was weighing fight night at 172-174lbs when he was a freaking 154lber - check the HBO fight night weigh in. At 168lbs Id say he'd weigh high end of 170s, almost or exactly the same weight he'd come fight night against Bivol at 175lbs (which I've confirmed he stated 178-180lbs). Why didn't he gas or look bad against 168lbers (in my book he did look bad, plod forwards loop similar combos /punches over and over, occasionally throw an uppercut)? " Because they were either paid off or just terrible due to card stacking /cherrypicked details. Again, Bivol is a blown up super middleweight. Kathy Duva says he is. Look at his HBO fight night weigh ins. Look at how big all LHWs look against him in the ring. It's a known fact he is a very small LHW. Bivol weighed anywhere between 2-5lbs heavier than Canelo fight night. He was marginally bigger in size (obviously he is taller than Canelo) Canelos fight night weight at 168 is highly likely that it would be the same at 175. All of a sudden 6f3 towering (essentially a big drained down light heavy) Callum Smith (who looks 190lb+ in there) , and a big 6ft 1 Caleb Plant aren't too big but Dmitry Bivol is too big.
Didn't many people say that Kovalev was outboxing him and winning before the stoppage? Same problem vs Bivol. The difference was vs Kovalev he paced himself better and didn't throw many punches early on. Vs Bivol he loaded up on power shots in the early rounds so it tired him more and as a result he didn't have anything left in the late rounds. He was also visibly slower vs Kovalev and Bivol than he was at 168 or at lower weights. He doesn't have the same gas tank at 175 than he does at 168.
He often gasses he puts too much into every punch like Clubber Laing and he got desperate making him put even more into his shots,he was fighting like a drunk throwing haymakers towards the end of the fight.
Kovalev wasn`t landing his jabs and wouldn`t tyhrow his right hand because he was scared off Canelo throwing counter hooks.
Bivol showed us how one dimensional Canelos skills actually are against a class ,prime opponent...easy work!!!...
That you are right, and he was always overrated. He always have do****** footwork, his speed was decent, but nothing extraordinary, same for his power. His cardio was never ever been elite. Yeah he currently is a counter-power puncher, but still his cardio was never top notch. And yeah Bivol is the real world class.
...stepping up to the challenge ha ha ...he soon realised that the $ has dropped & not enough money put into the envelopes....inflation kills all lol...Your BOY took a hell of a.lesson Drooly...
