Bruno destroys Cooney faster than Michael Spinks did , maybe even faster than old fat George Foreman did .
Yeah but he was tough and he could punch. Certainly he was as talented as Bonecrusher Smith and it didnt take a whole lot of skills to beat Bruno if you could punch and hang around for a while. I think Bruno gets stopped late after putting Cooney down a couple times.
Let me play devils advocate and say that Bonecrusher was better than Cooney. On what basis would you argue otherwise?
Two flawed and entertaining Heavyweights. Would be a fun fight to watch. I'd put my $20 on Cooney, but wouldn't be surprised if Bruno caught him with something first.
He is bigger and more modern therefore yes. Bruno by mid round TKO. Weathers a few storms from Cooney early on but is able to survive these shaky moments and gets the better of a slug fest, rocking Cooney on his feet and forcing the ref to stio the fight.
This match has actually been done on a few occasions, and I go back and fourth on who the winner would be. At the moment, I like Bruno. His power and size rival Cooney's while his conditioning and experience against better fighters excedes that of Gerry's. Both were dangerous in the early rounds, but crumbled when the going got rough.. Only difference between the two, is that Frank at least gave his conquerors hell before getting stopped, whereas Gerry couldn't do much once he was in trouble.. Bruno's galant losing effort against Lewis is one of the fights that comes to mind.
50\50 fight but I stuck with my above comment from nine years ago and give Bruno the edge for reasons long ago stated
