Is it possible for a paper title holder to beat an Olympic gold medallist in a three round contest?

Your incorrect, he was moving around the ring (running as you call it) but was winning them rounds at the time. Is he better than Canelo? Not a hope. Was he going to beat Canelo that night? Not a hope. But that's not what was asked here, it was over 3 rounds against an amatuer fighter and if Khan can do it, a top amateur that can move would too. You also have to remember Canelo is a drug cheat, although very skilled he may cause permanent damage at some stage to some fighter that has a family.

And those guys are equally likely to get iced. I wouldn’t have any faith in Wilder to survive an amateur tournament, he’d get Romanov’d again. Fury would get outboxed by a better southpaw than Wallin, Joshua would get Nistor’d again. It’s absurd to think that those guys could go back to the amateurs and have the same success they have as pros over three round contests.

See this just plain ridiculous. I think Canelo is one of the best pro boxers going around. If he could medal in an amateur tournament I’d be shocked, he doesn’t have the footwork for it.

Don't ever compare the Diaz brothers with top amateur boxers, or Froch for that matter :nonono But will give Froch credit, he consistently proved me wrong throughout his whole career beginning with the KO of Jermain Taylor

Another recent example to illustrate the difference, apparently Porter mainly sparred amateurs in preparation for Spence. Why? Superior boxers, how to deal with them. Porter goes on to have a (arguably) career best performance against Spence.

Let's go for technically skilled and formerly very good amateur boxers then, who at the moment hold paper titles.

175 Artur Beterbiev, got his vacant IBF belt against some dude named Alexander Johnson.
168 Billy Joe Saunders, got a vacant WBO 168 belt for beating the illustrious Isufy.
160 Dimetrious Andrade. Was gifted BJS's WBO 160 belt after he failed a drugtest for fighting a replacement dude called Walter.
154 Erislandy Lara. Paper vacant WBA belt handed to him for fighting Canelo's brother of all people.

Couldn't find current pure paper beltholders who also are very good in 147 or 140, but if we go further down in weightclasses I'm pretty sure we can find a couple more.
The 4 mentioned above are absolutely capable of beating a gold medalist over 3, and are obviously paper beltholders despite their skills and standing in the division.

This makes me think that you have zero experience and never been in a real boxing gym.
