"Don't let him hit me again! Don't let him hit me again!"

Joe Louis the greatest fighter of all time. As a puncher, he is also number 1 and no one is a close second. I love joe Louis.

I agree that taking all punching attributes into account Louis is No 1 by a large margin. These attributes would include accuracy, combination punching, speed, timing and power. Just in terms of punch for punch power IMO Dempsey and Marciano hit harder. I say this because this was Sharkeys opinion when asked to compare Dempsey and Louis power. Walcott also felt Rocky hit harder than Louis punch for punch. From memory he described Joe as a "rhythm" puncher.

. I say this because this was Sharkeys opinion when asked to compare Dempsey and Louis power. Walcott also felt Rocky hit harder than Louis punch for punch.

i might be wrong but Sharkey didn't say that "Dempsey Hit Harder Then Louis "
but that "Dempsey Hit Him Harder Then Louis Hit Him"
.what i took it as was when Dempsey knocked him out. He lost the chance to make big money fighting Tunney and the opportunity to fight for the title.
.When Louis knocked him out he didn't lose out on nothing because
it wasn't an elimination fight where winner fights for the title.. With that in mind
Of course Dempsey hit him harder maybe twice as hard lol

To bad the quality of the film of his Dempsey fight wasn't as good as the film quality of his Louis fight..Joe hit him with some beautifully wonderful crisp, clean punches.Straight with pin point perfect accuracy..Louis was such a perfect boxer puncher combination..Just a clean fighter, probably the cleanest fighting ATG
HW champ..When Conn was on the ropes and slipped .Louis could have took him out, but didn't take that cheapshot ,even he was behind on points.
Louis didn't drink nothing before weigh-in to get under 200 cause he didn't want people to say he beat up a little guy..Blackburn was ****ed at him when he found that out

Joe Louis had the greatest power punching combination ability, Dempsey and Marciano may have hit harder but once Louis caught you in the web of a combo, it was over . All 3 of these men were great finishers

Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight to live

Louis' ability to punch has remained unparalelled for nearly 100 years. His punches were so crisp and beautifully timed.

Absolutely but punch for punch Walcott stated Marciano hit harder and Sharkey stated Dempsey hit harder. In the same interview he stated "if Dempsey hits you in the shoulder he breaks your shoulder. If he hits you in the body it feels like his fist is coming out your back. If he hits you in the hip he dislocated your hip". Dempsey could hit!
