People don't really discuss Ryan Garcia full stop. But Davis is supposed to be a level above him. Davis is supposed to on the level of guys like Lopez and Loma, he just hasn't proven it yet.
That's why I said supposed to be. That's Davis next step. Garcia isn't really a known quantity yet. So it's a daft comparison.
I like both but the biggest difference is that Ryan is a prospect learning the game, no one's claiming he's the finished article or a P4P talent. Whereas Tank is clearly closer to his prime and being touted as a P4P level talent (probably rightly so), so he's being held to a higher standard (rightly so) at this stage
New narrative, make threads about Tanks name all the time, when is not relevant. How long this BS going to continue ?
Looks like we aren't going to see what Garcia can do for a while. I've not bought into Gervonta like some people have. I still say he hasn't done enough to warrant all the hype around him. Slick marketing and ultra cautious management from Mayweather and Co have left me unimpressed so far.
By the time Garcia has worked his way back into position to face someone like Davis there's no telling where the latter may be. I mean, how long till Garcia is fully focused, fighting fit, and ready to take on the very best guys? 6 months? A year? I'm not saying his recent "lay off" was/is anything career defining, but Garcia clearly isn't ready for a fight of this magnitude at this precise moment. Will Davis even be in the same weight class by the time he is ready? A lot can happen in 6 months to a year. Will Davis lose some big fights and lose his appeal as an opponent? Boxing can be like that. This fight should already be marinating nicely so it could happen in the next 18 months - 2 years max. I don't think that's going to happen, do you? In fact, I don't think we'll see Haney-Lopez-Davis anywhere near each other for years...if ever.
That's the whole point of hype, it's unproven. For example there's no hype around Canelo, because he's been there and done that. There's hype around Davis because he is yet to do so. I don't see him living up to expectations, the division he's in has Lopez and the division above has Taylor. He won't beat neither.
I would agree with that. I don't think he can beat either of them - I think I know the answer, but do you think he can beat Garcia?
He's fought at a higher level for at least three years he had better have a better resume than Ryan Garcia.

Garcia is even less proven than Gervonta, and hasn't impressed as much as Gervonta has against his opposition. You probably argue that Davis was the best SFW in the world after destroying Cuellar. Since then his opposition has really gone downhill, but I'd say it's still better than the opposition of Garcia, and he's looked more dominant. I'd say he is a favourite over Garcia, but I don't think it would be classed as an upset if Garcia beat him.
Well... Tanks been a pro for over 3 years longer than Garcia has. Thats a lot of time in boxing. He should naturally have the better resume. The two are not even at the same stage of their careers. Which would probably be why Tank receives more criticism than ryan over resumes.
Errol Spence has a better resume than Tank Davis. Only started fighting one year earlier too. So if this thread was made to pump up TD, it really makes him look bad considering he’s been fighting several years more as a pro than Garcia has and barely has a resume to begin with at 26 years old.
