He was in the ballot and, I think, came 6th. There was a protest movement against Fury being in the poll but the Beeb ignored it.
They despise him. Anyone who can grab the mike off Gary, start singing unscripted and off key is not welcome in the BBC.
To win BBC Sports Personality of the Year you need to be devoid of one. It's like winning the Oscars. Really nothing to write home about.
Mattel have stepped up to the plate and created a Barbie-Dina-Asher-Smith doll, complete with trailing Union Jack. Dina is apparently over the moon; https://bit.ly/3aqqkMu Pair that with International Women's Day next Sunday and with Dina's doll and Laura falling off her bike, team Laura-Dina will undoubtedly overwhelm Tyson in the coming months.
There hasn't been a female winner in more than a decade. The only BAME winners this century have been a six time World Champion, a four time Olympic Champion, and a double Olympic Champion. Presumably we're defining a "nice middle class sport" as "anything other than boxing", as the last 20 winners have come from 10 different sports? I'm sure the BBC luvvies would hate it if Fury won, but the simple explanation why he hasn't is because 1) there are more popular sports than Boxing and 2) there are more popular athletes than Fury.
