It was, in fact, a draw. I recommend checking the RBR punchstats if you think that's unreasonable. Style alone doesn't win fights.
I agonized over it for some time, the day after. Wilder won somewhere between two and four rounds. There was no draw. Having said that, if the fight had been stopped after that knockdown, then it would have ben far from the worst stoppage in history. Robberies like that are horrible. Yes Fury got his happy ending eventually, but then you get guys like Golovkin, who were denied their moment in history.
The basis for why you don't rate Liston II as a top win is because it's controversial and unrealistic, yet you rate Wilder's draw with Fury despite it being plainly obvious he should've lost? Wilder's first six defences are all worthless. We're talking about fighters who aren't even on the same level as Derrick Chisora. Of his next four, two are decent, one is ****, and the other should be a loss. Wilder 'successfully' defended against three ranked fighters in his title reign, those being Ortiz twice and the draw with Fury. Of Ali's eight defences, six were ranked. In less defences, Ali doubled the amount of ranked fighters he faced... There's no way on this planet Wilder was as good as Norton, Bowe or Liston.
Swing rounds: 1, 2,4,5,6,7,8,11. Wilder got 10-8 in 9 and 12 Fury definitely won 3 and 10 (link is from the scene) https://www.*******.com/amp/deontay-wilder-vs-tyson-fury-compubox-punch-stats--134262
Sonny Liston spent his career beating guys who by the standards of Wladimirs era were light heavyweights and cruiserweights. He doesn't really have wins suggesting he would be a threat to Wladimir. There is no way of knowing whether his power would translate in Wladimirs era or if his chin holds up. Frankly someone like Luis Ortiz is probably H2H above anyone Liston beat
Bowe has the better top win but if you take Holyfield out of Bowes resume Wilder probably has a better resume
I dont have a ranking but I know he is a threat he is just the first ever with his combo in a hw tall heavy moves good good defense akward and can counter punch cant be ko by 1 big punch
As much as I hate Bowe's resume... that's probably not true. Wilder's best win is unproven old Ortiz and Bowe beat some better fighters than that.
I'm wondering if Wilder beat guys even the caliber of Tubbs, Gonzalez...he certainly never beat anyone the caliber of the Golota that Bowe faced those two times. I could be wrong. That said, I have huge respect for Deontay after this last fight. His stock rose, and so of course did Fury's .
Liston hit too hard, plus was a far better overall boxer and finisher than Wilder. Fury would get stopped in 12 imo. Liston wouldn't have have thrown wild punches after decking Fury, he was one of the greatest finishers who ever lived.
