If a kid is lazy, he's lazy. (In my opinion.) Kids will only put the minimum effort into something forced to really try.

My dad was super strict and we gave 100% at school, sports, work...everything....because if we didn't he'd go ape **** and it wasn't worth the hassle of getting yelled at or grounded or getting our asses whooped.

Yeh kids can change though. I used to be in loadsa sports when i was very young as my dad was very sporty , but if i didnt feel like doing it i wouldnt that day i had no commitment , when i went to high school i was one of the kids that would make up an injury or sick note to get out of P.E (sports classes). I also lived off of fish fingers and chips. Now i box , train , play soccer and eat as healthy as i can. Im not perfect now but no one from my old school would believe i would be in a boxing gym or even exercising. Guess what im saying is you should encourage your kid as much as possible without forcing him or her into anything. If they grow up to be a computer wizz and aslong as they are healthy nothing wrong with that. I reckon you cant really force kids to do anything you only end up pissing them off.
