Ocelot, for me rounds 10 and 11 were very clear Sturm rounds along with round 12 and two of the middle ones. The rest I watched from round 5 on were close. Not one singe clear Macklin round - not even the one where Sturm looked tired against the ropes (6?). I started watching from round 5 and had Sturm winning the absolute majority of the rounds. I don't count shots on the hips or gloves, which was Macklin's story of the night. On the total he landed significantly more - that I would agree with - but Sturm's shots continually snapped Macklin's head back. It was clear who the better boxer was. Macklin showed very poor defense - I wouldn't want to dream about Sturm's connect percentage - but did have some success with the looping right hook around Sturm's guard. Also his right hook to the body was good. Watt, who as an impartial outside observer with little difficulty could notice was very biased, scored the fight a draw and gave Sturm the third round so I don't agree that Macklin MUST have swept the first four (though I didn't see them). If HBO generally are called cheerleading, then Sky is even worse. The main commentator was cheering for Macklin all night for punches he missed. They call it as they want it to be rather than how i really is and that WILL sway you as a Brit who naturally wants Macklin to win whether you think you can switch it off or not. It may not be obvious to you but it's funny to see a lot od British signtures complaining about a robbery whereas a lot of the posters neither from Germany or GB say it could have gone either way. Do you really think it is a coincidence? Come on! This is far from all Brits naturally. Macklin's body work was effective and did tire Sturm, who looked lethargic like against Gevor and only does what he has to to win. But Sturm's clean punches affected Macklin more I think. When Sturm connected, Macklin went off balance and you could see it affected him. I had it for Sturm and to me the judges scorecards are perfectly reasonable. I'm modest enough to say it could have gone either way but to say Sturm could not have won it is just pure bias. I will rewatch it because it was a very good fight. And regarding German robberies... Sylvester and Geale had a close fight. Geale got the nod. You cannot just take all close fights in Germany and call them robberies. It's getting tiring. I will say; for aother thread, we will list all the "robberies" from all the countries we know. Then we're gonna see how many the are from respective nations. I'm sure we will see that it evens out between countries. You generally get the benefit of the doubt as a house fighter - everywhere!

German whores must be doing it very good I guess. 2 of the judges will most definitivly be getting some tonight.
I wouldn't say Watt generally gets it wrong when scoring fights but I take your point on the Haye-Valuev fight:good Most fights he scores I have similar score or 1 or 2 points out.
If people think this is the worst German robbery yet .. they clearly haven't watched enough fights:nut
You started watching a fight in the 5th round ( Macklin won the first 3 or 4 rounds), so you can´t talk about the scoring. And that his head snapped back isn´t a criterion to score a fight.
Eurotrash judging + german location + British fighter = **** decision again. probably a bit of payback because Cameron said no to anymore euro bailouts at the euro council yesterday .
Sturm gets the benefit of the doubt for showing the champions resolve to edge the middle rounds then finishing strongly with some classy work. If Macklin had connected more in the last few rounds he might have got the decision even in Germany. But Sturm had Macklin staggered at the end of 12th. When his corner hoisted Mack on their shoulders he looked ready to pass out. He was obviously gutted not to get the verdict but theres no shame in this defeat. Macklin proved tonight he can mix it up at the top level. I dont understand all the Sturm haters, he's undeniably a quality operator and a worthy champion. He did exactly what was necessary to come back from a rocky start and keep the belt.
Bataglia - respect for laying out your argument intelligently. I saw Macklin winning 7 rounds without question. But obviously others did not. I saw this fight as a bigger robbery than the Huck/Lebedev fight, which was a questionable decision, but not a robbery, imo. Macklin hit Sturm a lot more than Sturm hit Macklin, and they were shots behind and around the gloves, to the side of the head; uppercuts, and shots to the body, repeatedly. I just can't see how Sturm won that fight. But, again, others saw it differently.
Not a robbery but a close fight that should have gone to Macklin. He was far more active, threw the harder shots. Sturm nicked a couple with his sharp countere punching but Macklins work rate and body shots should have won him that fight I had Macklin by a point but I could possible see a draw. But 116-112. Get the **** out of here
Sturm at best did well in about 4 rounds maybe five, he didnt wake up until after the first four rounds after which he had lost all four,
Ocelot, I saw it the same Macklin constantly landed on Sturn even when Sturm threw back. HTF does scoring 3 - 4 clean shots a round win a round never mind a fight.
But I thought Sturm won a lot of the later rounds that I think "robbery" cries are wrong even though I did not see the first ones. People on here need to relax. And yes, if a boxers head snaps back it is clean effective punching for me. It's claer the other fighter connects - on the other hand, Macklin's punches did land but were harder to spot because they were 75% blocked most of the time. And as I said, he was affected by the blows which think the commentators often failed to notice. And by affected I don't mean hurt or even stunned. There are degrees in hell. Macklin's punches on the other hand very rarely moved Sturm even when he did connect. The supposed 3 to 1 ratio sounds terribly overstated to me. The difference wasn't that big. I will watch it again and strongly recommend a lot o the posters to do so as well when they've calmed down. Scoring it live is a different thing.
It all adds to the drama of Haye v Wlad for 2nd July , imagine the uproar there will be if Haye is a clear winner in a close competitive fight but gets schtupped on the score cards ? Its a possibility - Hayes gonna have to dominate from 1st to last to get a decision over there as any close rounds will go Klits way automatically.
