Personally I think Martinez is a very special fighter. He has natural athletisism, excellent accuracy and a wide variety of punches that he is capable of throwing hard and from angles. He seems extremely durable, has excellent stamina and a reasonably good work rate. I should also mention his hand speed and footwork which are also exceptional.

Not recognising the Pavlik win as an impressive victory seems a bit naive too. Yes Pavlik was beaten by a 44 year old, but FFS that was Bernard Hopkins who has just recaptured the WBC / Ring LHW titles. Pavlik was also going up in weight to fight Bernard but as a middleweight Pavlik was huge.

I sort of agree with this...I'm reserving my judgement until he actually fights a natural middleweight who isn't a drunk :deal...Too much hype for the beautiful one.

Did you guys see how easily Macklin was smashing hooks in to the body?? Sturm's left side was reddening up within 2 rounds. Imagine a big puncher pounding away? With that high guard and static movement the body was so open last night. Imagine someone like Alvarez who can really hit with combinations and power would have done to those ribs! And Alvaraz is only 20 and could well find himself up a division within a couple of years. I think a fighter like that with a work rate and a big punch beats Sturm quite easily.

I had a row on here a couple of years back with a guy who saw the name "Martinez" and assumed that Jamie Moore would have no trouble with the Mexican pressure fighter...

Same, just has a better jab, lazy fighter, who fights in short bursts. Sturm looked awesome when he let his hands go but just didnt enough and never will unless the opponents extremly weak like Ronalds Hearns.

McEwan would beat Mathew quite easily imo far far to easy to hit,he was unlucky last night and does deserve a rematch but McEwan will beat him and Barker
