Agreed. A great fight ,Macklin really brought it to Sturm. Ashame the judges had they're heads up their arse's.
Yes, I loved it. To be honest, I stood up during that round and didn't sit down until the fight ended.
What controversy? Sturm landed the crisper harder shots, yes his work rate was less than Macklin, but work rate alone does not win the fight. Every time Sturm let his hands go, he landed and landed well. Macklin was game, but I'm not going to side with a guy just because he was game. Skills pay the bills. Great finish to round 12 as well. Definitely worth another watch.
:deal Fact! We are suppose to put an emphasis on "clean effective punching." Other types of activity do not have as much value. Keep telling that story. Maybe a handful of posters will catch on.
Macklin's body punching was savage early on!! Sturm's ribs looked really tender. I scored it a draw.....
Sturm looked to be out on his feet twice or even three times during the fight. So, while Macklin did hit a lot of leather he also rocked Sturm several times. Macklin's power punch percentage was good enough to warrant a victory. Stum was too hesitant and afraid of attacking, he didn't even stick out his excellent jab in fear of getting countered by hard-hitting Macklin. He had him hurt in the closing seconds of round 12, though.
