What heavyweight from any era would you compare David Hayes style too?

Years ago yeah the WBA belt was the most prestigious. Nowadays the WBA is a complete joke and the WBO seems to be more worthy. However, Haye is not a real champ of the WBA anyway, that joke of a title was created AFTER Wlad already beat the WBA champ in Chagaev. Haye is just a challenger like everyone else that fights Wlad and nothing more.

He reminds me of Wlad, who is apparently the white Lennox Lewis.

I think he might be something like this.:good

I think Haye is special talent. His style for Hw champ and maybe after next weekend the Hw champ is unique.

hard to say...with about 4 fights in 4 years as a heavyweight..1 fight being against a guy where haye throws 11 punches a round and runs the entire fight..and the 2 against guys close to 40 years old that hadnt seen a big win in YEARS before signing to fight haye...pretty much hes got a style all on its own...a non existent one

Why does every Haye thread turn into a bashing session?

Hell, I'm not even one of his fans and even I have to roll my eyes at the massive lack of objectivity people have in regard to him on this forum. It's sad, but it seems to crop up with other fighters, too -- it's like the General Forum is more about cheerleading and fanboys than actual fans of the sport itself. Haye is sometimes quite unlikable, so I can see why people want to put him down, but it would be much more interesting to see more balanced responses.

I agree, he would probably like those sentiments. I haven't really seen any footage of Sullivan, unfortunately -- he sounds like he would be unorthodox.

I have so little experience watching the heavyweight division that I'm not sure who I would pick for a Haye comparison...hmm. It would have to be a fast, mid-range counter-puncher with significantly heavy hands, someone who attacks in spurts, doesn't often throw combinations, and uses head/body movement rather than a guard to deal with punches most of the time. Someone with low punch resistance and a leaky defence, but dangerous.
