I think in terms of achievement, B Hops.

How does it work? The entire 2010 year or is it just the last ESPY to this ESPY? June 2010- June 2011? Martinez beat Pavlik last April so I don't know if that counts. It could explain how Floyd won 2010 one since he beat Marquez and Mosley within that time period. In that case, I'll go with Martinez I guess. When are the Awards given out?

Jon Jones definatley deserves his props. Fought, dominated and stopped an undefeated prospect in Bader and then turned around on 7 weeks notice to utterly dominate and stop the Light Heavyweight champion in Shogun Rua.

The last boxer to fight that close together was Chris Arreola and his competition was not of that standard.

If the period of the award is the financial year - the 30th to the 30th - B Hop had a draw and a win, Pacquiao had Margo and Mosley, Martinez Williams and Dzinziruk.

GSP fought Josh Koscheck and Jake Shields.

I think if if the date is June 30/10 to 30/11 - Then Jon Jones is deserving of the nomination for sure.

I would probably vote for Martinez is that was the period of time, but to discount Jones because you dislike MMA doesn't reflect that he has certainly earned a nomination for the quality of his performances - Probably the most dominant of any elite fighter in any sport in the last twelve months.

If Overeem had spectaculalry KO'd Werdum - You'd have to consider him as well for defending the Strikeforce HW title, winning the Dream HW title, winning the K-1 tourney and winning the first round of the Strikeforce HW tourney.

i'd say jon jones. I'd still take boxing any day of the week but jones has been destroying quality opponents.

Pacquiao could dig up the decomposed remains of Sugar Ray Robinson and weight drain them to 145 pounds before sneaking out a controversial 12 round SD for and still get nominated for fighter of the year.

Ricky Burns' three title defences this year have been absolutely abysmal.

How did Floyd win last year ? Wtf ?
Hopkins made history and will be facing Dawson. Probably will beat him too so that would definently make him the fighter of the year.

Forgive me if I'm overlooking something here, but how can Floyd be 2008's fighter of the year without fighting? And how can he be 2010's fighter of the year with just one fight against Mosley, when Sergio destroyed both Pavlik and Williams?

Oh, and I'll go for B-Hop for this year. Hopefully he'll beat Dawson in October, althought he'll be a far tougher fight than Pascal.

Edit: I get it now. They've used a different time-span.
