Whats the point of even bothering with decisions in Germany.Macklins was bad but by no means the worst over there.Of course Boxing is such big buisness there no attempts to clean it up are ever made.

I think the mood in the arena amongst journalists etc was more pro Macklin than on the forums.

anyway, here is the signature punch of the night, courtesy of "our wee Kev"

Good on Macklin anyways, shows he can turn in good performances when the pressures on. Ive never understood the hate Macklin gets on here, particulaly on the brit forum, where they should be rooting for Macklin.

As far as I'm concerned Macklin won by 1 or 2 rounds. At the very worst Sturm might of sneaked a draw, but he never won the fight. He knows that himself, as does most people who watched the fight.

I have to disagree. It was a great peformance by Macklin and he threw loads of punches BUT an awful lot of them were hitting elbows and gloves and many he did land were pure arm punches. Sturm landed the beter looking, quality, memorable shots. It comes down to whether you prefer quality vs quantity, rather like Chavez Jr vs Zbik the other week. Zbik outlanded him greatly but Jr landed the hurtful , memorable punches. Cant remember my scorecard but will post it this evening when I get home. I know I had Macklin winning the first 3, gave Sturm the 4th. Will put up the rest this evening for ye to pick holes in.

Lads I requested odds on the Ireland boxing team to win 5 or more medals at the Olympics and the odds I was offered was 5/1. Its not the greatest of offers out when none of our boxers have got to London yet. The odds were from Paddy Power.
