America currently holds nine major world titles (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF) in all weight divisions, compared to Europes 18. So why if a European fighter doesnt beat the best in America is he considered and fraud with a padded record, but if an American fighter doesnt beat the best in Europe he can still be considered an all time great?
It's because the worst fighter in America is always better than the best fighter in Europe. That's just the way God planned it.
Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, James Toney, never went up against the best from europe. But Europeans get far more criticism for their records
They never went up against them during their reign as champions, and i meant they never beat the best euros. Is the "idiot" remark necessary?
Europe is a continent, USA is a country. Maybe you should do a N. America vs Europe thread and re-evaluate your numbers.
Is not America one single country? How many countries are there in Europe? The UK has the most with 5. Actually, the US holds 11 major titles. In boxing history they have held over 400 world titles and have the most world champs in every weight class (bar flyweight). Germany have had less then 20, ditto Russia. Only UK has a rich boxing history in europe. Top 50 all time p4p, how many Europeans? In most lists, the US has the majority of entrants. Hall of Famers? What about p4p last 20 years, how many European fighters? Has anyone heard of Steiglitz, Zaveck, Shumenov and a host of their boxers? They don't exactly rush to take on big names in their divisions. All 3 should look around their weight class. How many current top class European fighters are there, especially outside UK? Class fighters in the world - Ortiz, Mayweather, Hopkins, Ward, Bradley, Rios, Gurrero. The US is doing alright.
That isn't relevant to the point I am making. I am not saying USA isn't a strong boxing nation, it is obviously in the top two in the world. You statement only reinforces what I am saying, Europe is a whole continent so why are wins against the best from a whole continent worth less than wins against Americans?
Here's how to settle the matter. If you want to be the best in the world, look at the top 10 p4p or best in the division and go fight them. It has nothing to do with the US. If some fighters have slipped through the net and not developed a worldwide reputation, thats probably their own fault. Did they take on the best fighters in the world and beat genuine world class opponents?
Lets do a georgaphy test. Europe as a continent in boxing - 18 world titles. Last time I checked North America consisted of Mexico, US and Canada - thats 29 world titles. If you wanted to be the best in a division or p4p, who from Europe would you need to fight? Even in 4-5 divisions if there were Europeans near the top, the quality starts dropping of pretty quickley. Below LMW there is 1 European champ who is any good. Mayweather and GBP make all the big bucks, not the latest Steiglitz fight.
Exactly! And these fakes think it appropriate that we rush over to their crooked refs and judges. Look at the Klits and all other European fighter like Froch imitating AMERICAN fighting styles. What fighters are imitating European fighters? None. No one wants to be a robot. They are all imitaing American fighters. Let's keep this **** real! :yep:good
You've missed the point. You're right that north america is better than europe at producing world champions, but currently europe is beating the usa, which is what we are talking about here. The Usa is probably the best country at producing boxers middleweight and above, and mexico the lighter divisions. The issue I am trying to raise here is people automatically viewing europeans as less worthy than americans, and just being dismissed as eurotrash, when Europe is stronger currently than the USA.
