As he said in the post fight interview, that he was sorry for not showing his fans and sponsors all he'd gained from the solid training. He'll be back bigger and better.
Have to feel sorry for Kirby here. He was getting banged up on the side of the head against the ropes, next thing the fight is called off. If the Ref had jumped in earlier and warned Kali, then started them off again that woudl have bene the best outcome.
Don't feel sorry for Kirby just yet.... things are already looking up. Hopefully an announcement shortly.
Good to hear. I imagine everyones attitude would be a bit different had Kirby been a young, undefeated prospect. Kirby most definitely got the short end of the stick from that decision
Funny how meehan menshioned 'fights' with mc'call and tua but didn't menshion a fight with leapai great hype mate
it was posted in other forums leapai pulled out of negotiations because meehan wanted $50 000.00 or more something very hard for domestic promoters wouldn't be able to afford not even mundine promotions,he was called in because his backers are ready to offer the amount he wants.
Thats a big call from his backers, If he beats Kahli does that really do $50 000 worth of good for his career. I dont think so a lepea win will just be followed by he beat a 41 or 42 year old fighter who was past his best so not a lot of good especially not $50 000 worth
Spot on. Why not a fight with chauncy welliver? He is ranked(top 10 in wbc and wbo),active, young, would cost pee nuts to fight and leapai would beat him. ?
i never thought i'd see anyone hurt kirby as quickly as kali did. i know kali was in a different class, but kirby is one solid unit. i guess after seeing that right hand break davarryl williamson in half its clear meehan has power to ko any world fighter if he can connect. just a shame kali didn't get more higher fights during the 3 years at the top of the wba rankings. he will only get slower and it will get harder for him if he does get a title shot in the next year or so.
