Marquez can't function at 144 lbs? That's odd... because he has been weighing in on fight night around the welterweight limit for a long time. So, Marquez won't be able to function because he won't have to dehydrate the extra water from himself and then put the weight back on right after the weigh ins? You guys really don't know how this stuff works, do you? Pac and Marquez will weigh around the same on fight night... just as they always do regardless of what weight they fight at.
You can slap yourself silly. You know what I said is true. And to make it worse, he wouldn't weigh on fight night at all. Why? He was 160-pound cheating chump.
Cuz floyd was on vacation and lost the urge :deal He only came back when pac already has an opponent:hi:
Pacquiao only fights guys who are coming off brutal beatings or thst he is guaranteed to beat. His toughest opponent in almost four years is Clottey. Cintron has been fighting better opposition in that time. It's minimize risk/maximize return time for pacquiao.
atsch:rofl:rofl:rofl how is that punching bag his toughest opponent?:huh Go see pacquiao pics after the cotto fight, That was his toughest opponent not that punching bag clottey
Unfortunately, I can't totally disagree with this. However, coming off losses or not, at least he's fought 10 times in that time span instead of just four. Only three have been guys Foyd had fought, and three were guys Floyd refuse to fight. And of the three common opponents, Pac was much more spectacular than May in how he beat them. That said. His last two fights (Mosley and Marquez) are deplorable for a guy that claims to be the best in the world. If so, he should be fighting the real contenders in his weight class. Instead, he's gone the same route Floyd went since moving past 135. He's avoided the top challengers for the biggest paydays. I'm not in favor of it from either guy. I just wish the two sides (*****s and *******s) could stop calling it good business for their guy and chicken**** for the other. Pac used to fight the best, and did so for a longer time than Floyd, but these last two guys are BS fights.
This is why I loved this choice of Ortiz for Floyd. Ortiz literally looked like the young hungry lion in the press conference. He's young and really really wants this. This is going is going to be a good fight
Pac has pretty much cleaned up the welterweight division. Cotto-clottey-mosley--margarito who used to rule the division. Mayweather is the only one left so who is pac supposed to fight? Berto? Finished his unfinished business with marquez and then fight the winner of floyd-ortiz next.
That's really a myth. Oscar was a big favorite over Pac despite the loss to Mayweather. Pac fought Hatton at his prime weight class where he was the lineal champion. Mayweather only fought him at 147, and only after he had already looked like **** at that weight against a very average opponent. Mosley. Well really there was no excuse for either guy fighting Mosley. There was, of course, the payday. But there's no way to spin, for either guy, that beating the old and now entirely one-dimensional Mosley did anything for either guys' legacy.
in earnest - and not to slight either fighter- hasn't a 3rd fight between JMM and pacman been a request by boxing fans for a while now? i remember a RING article that proposed 5 other opponents for manny besides mosley and one of them was JMM. in response to the OP; boxing is fantastic because it is a fertile field for storytelling and promotes dialogue based on values that fighters have grown to be symbols of. objectively, both bouts are interesting inasmuch as they raise profound questions on the nature of conflict, on a base mythical level: mayweather v ortiz can be interpreted as the old vs new lion JMM v pac may serve to explore the idea that the past can be rewritten by the future in the case of JMM/pac, i am inclined to agree with widow_maker's post; in this particular bout the weight has become a moot point as their sizes won't be overwhelmingly discordant. widowtaker - your point i take great issue with; 4 years back begins at jorge solis and includes barrera 2 and upwards. as evidenced with the much due resurgence of respect for hatton's accomplishment, i believe that time will inevitably remember pac's opponents as the true and live contenders they were, tipping the scales back to "pacquiao is a hardworking and talented fighter" and away from "he is nothing but well managed." issue: if 144 for JMM creates an unfair advantage for manny, then the victory over antonio margarito must be relegated as a triumph given his overwhelming weight advantage.
Marquez is only the mark at 135 and under. not Pacquiao or Mayweather get credit for beating him above that. How much credit would Ortiz get if he Ko's Marquez next?
Cause he wants the world to know that he can KO JMM when he's not drained. he doesnt need to cheat him in the scales.
