So I re-watched Haye vs Valuev, and I saw some interesting things.

I noticed that although inactive, Haye showed VERY nice lateral, head movement. He dodged the punches perfectly, and moved around intelligently. Sometimes he would come back with a extremely fast counter, and he also jabbed effectively. It was a boring fight, but Haye showed some of his skills there.

Although I want Wlad to win I see that Haye shouldn't be underestimated.

Do you guys think that he could move around the same way vs Wlad, as he did against Valuev?? I know Valuev is prety slow and heavy but his jab is decent, and Haye avoided it all night long.

How would you compare Valuev to Wlad? Does Haye have a chance to apply the same tactics to Wlad?? Is he going to be able to dodge punches as effectively?

1 he will try and move the same if he has no luck early on
2 no wlad is a different animal, gotta force him to fight your fight

I could see Haye taking the jab away from Wlad early. However, I just feel he'll be sapped of his energy avoiding the jab all night. Wlad jabs to much to be able to navigate it for 12 rounds. Haye seemed to have trouble with the jab of Ruiz to.

Valuev is slow in pretty much everything he does. His footwork is slow, he plods along, his shots are telegraphed. I don't see much of a comparison between the two, apart from they're reach, height, and strong men. Apart from that Wlad is better in everything single department and is nothing really a like Valuev.

I'm under the illusion the Valuev tactics will not work in this one. Wlad is smart, and will cut the ring, leaving Haye not to much space to get on his bike.

It is true that Valuev is slow, and telegraphs his punches, but Haye's movement would be problematic to anyone. It is true he has **** defense, but his speed and movement make up for it.

Iwonder if Wlad has enough speed to catch Haye when he lunges etc.

Speed is key to Haye winning this fight, he has good head movement and footwork he throws punches from all angles which completely confused valuev.
His left and then big overhand right is lightning
And even though Wlad isnt as slow as Valuev he is quite predictable
I see haye having a good look at wlad early on and making sure he pot shots him and then out again frustrates him maybe even taunts him.
What is very noticeable in the build up to this fight is that Wlad HATES haye its not just for promotion etc and Haye will play on that
But will that genuine hate be enough for wlad to ditch his tried and tested formula
I dont think manny will allow him to go in with the mentality to smash haye to pieces because an experienced trainer like manny knows thats not natural for wlad to fight that way.
My prediction for this fight is Haye by around the 6th or 7th round, I just see the speed being a telling factor quicker movement and quicker hands

There shouldn't be much taken from Haye Valuev other than Haye didn't back up his prefight talk. Valuev is very slow compared to Klitschko and lacks power and skill.

if valuev fast faster on his feet he would have been able to cut the ring off from haye especially during the midrounds,in which he was frustratingly close but haye got out due to his HUGE speed advantage

after watching that fight,i watched eddie chambers vs wlad and saw that wlad is without doubt the best in the world at cutting off the ring

i really can't see the valuev tactics working against wlad

Yeah, I mean Haye has a skill set that has the potential to really annoy Wlad, and it will be interesting to see if Haye can get around the telephone pole jab.

I do think that for a while he will be able to do so, but in the long run it will wear him out, and it will be a late TKO for Wlad.

I think you've spotted the likely gameplan: avoid the jab, crack that chin with a hard counter. Haye seems to gas, so I'm not sure he can keep it up for 12 rounds against Wlad. The punches Wlad does land will carry a lot more power than the ones Valuev did.

If he were to run around like he did versus Valuev I could see him running into a hook ala Austin.

Had Valuof won the last round, the fight would have been his....more than likely.
Haye did not do as well as Holy. Which I had winning.
I did have Haye up...but not by much.

Valuof could not and seldom ever did throw a one two, and not just in that fight.

I know that man, but you have to admit that Haye has some good head movement.

I do see that Valuev is slow, and that you can read him like a book, but surely Haye may have perfected this aspect of his game, so he can use it effectively against Wlad.
