I feel bad for Carl. He wanted his name on the marquees in ritzy Las Vegas but instead he gets south Jersey.
so the final is in some eastcoast hell hole? why not just hold the ****ing thing in germany or montreal!
Amazing isn't it? I don't really care that Froch has to go out there, but to say it is neutral is ludicrous. Like someone else said, London would be just as "neutral". It's better than it being in Wards home town, but an American fighting a non American in America is not a neutral venue.
Picture downtown Vegas. Now ignore the strip. Then picture downtown Vegas twice as dead and twice as tacky. Now you're starting to get the idea of Atlantic City. LOL
Then you gonna hear Rachel at maximum decibels. I feel sorry for you. That girl yelling can spoil a fight for me, watching it from home on tv, can't imagine how it will be if I was there.
As a poster said earlier, the final venue should have been sorted way in advance, in a neutral venue or at least a friggin good one! I think Froch should hold out for a better decent venue, the man has done more than enough to warrant a high calibre one. For gods sakes, if Khan got Vegas so early on in his career facing lesser fighters, Froch deserves much more!
I agree that AC is hardly a "neutral" venue, and that the venue should have been sorted earlier.Having said all this, nobody really knew who would make the final,so how do you pick a neutral venue without knowing whether the American,British,Danish,or Armenian/German fighters would make the final.
Atlantic city is not a neutral venue but since the final has to be in USA, it is ok. At least, Ward will also have a jetlag!
showtime are running the tournament and are a US company. the final was always going to be in the usa for maximum exposure. every fighter would have known that going in.
C'mon man, you know that's not a valid argument. England is about the size of Oregon. Meanwhile, The U.S is about the size of Europe. Froch's fan base in Nottingham, wouldn't have to travel very far to see him fight in London. Meanwhile Ward's supporters in Oakland would have to take a 7+ hr. flight from Oakland to A.C to see Ward fight(BTW, how long is a flight from Nottingham to Philly or NY?). Not only that, but because England is so small, they are way more likely to support a fighter simply because he's from England. It doesn't work that way in the U.S. There are about 300M people here. They'll support guys from their hometown or even homestate. However, they're not going to support someone just because they are American. ****ing Ricky Hatton fought Mayweather, 10 minutes from Mayweather's house, and he had more supporters in that Arean than Mayweather did. All in all, this a pretty neutral venue. Froch will probably have just as many supporters there as Ward(which isn't very many for either guy). If the fight was in London, everyone would be there rooting for Froch.
