Manny Steward: 'Wladimir has the best one-punch power'

    Thoughts. Definitely a heavy puncher, but not on the same level as Lewis IMO, and in a P4P sense, not as powerful as Hearns IMO.

    How does he stack up with G-Man and Moorer for one punch power? (P4P) Or do you agree with Manny, that Wladimir is one of the hardest single shot punchers in Heavyweight history?

    I don't, but he hits harder than Vitali for sure.

    Okay. So, do the faster punchers Manny has worked with implement their speed as to the degree that they generate a harder punch than Wlad (in your opinion)?

    Lennox hit harder, for me. Too many accumulative beatings against punch bags on Wlads slate IMO, though his stoppages of Austin and Chambers were aesthetically top drawer.

    And that was the left hook :deal

    simple solution:

    someone volunteers to take a full force dig from wlad and one from lennox.

    empiricism is the only answer!

    I find measuring one punch power p4p difficult.

    I'd like to think Julian Jackson would have better power p4p.

    Of course.

    But I'm just interested in comparing Wlad with fighters that Manny trained. I do recall seeing Jackson in a pair of Kronk like trunks mind.....was he trained by Steward at some point? I don't think so, but I might be wrong.

    My all time P4P punchers (that I've seen) are probably Louis, Arguello, Hearns, Jackson, Foster, Olivares, Fitzsimmons. In any order ya' like.

    Not the best, but to maintain the ko record he has in the pros, although he has fought some questionable opposition (who hasn't) he must have some top class power.
    Just not sure he's a concussive puncher, more cumulative I think

    I think it's confidence more than anything. If he was a killer, he'd throw with conviction more regularly.

    Sporadically deadly is how I'd best describe his power.

    I must have seen the photo and made the assumption Steward and Jackson had worked together or something - I've always thought that Jackson and Steward worked together, if only briefly.

    Does anyone have an actual knowledge on this, rather than my guesswork?

    Was the chambers ko a left hook?

    Ive consigned it to memory as a right hand

    absolutely ice cold ko that, so I see where steward is coming from

    Hearns ko of duran no less takes some beating though!

    He does. Lewis just knew to be more aggressive and explosive, especially against bigger opposition. Who's the more sharper or accurate puncher is up to debate. I don't see why people equate power with punching. Power's just one aspect, it's not all encompassing. Steward holds the pads so I believe him.

    i could imagine maybe wlad hits a heavybag slightly harder but in terms of actually punching an opponent its lennox all the way

    PeteThePrince; Has Wlad displayed the same kind of power as Lewis or (P4P) Hearns? I think you have to go with what you see, and Wlad doesn't have that kind of power IMO (obviously closer to Lewis than either are to Hearns ;-))
