He did exactly what he needed to do, it wasnt a complicated game plan 1 He took centre ring 2 He pressurised haye onto the back foot 3 He took steps back when haye threw punches so hayes shots were reaching and putting him off balance 4 He backed haye against the ropes and lined him up with the left pawing at him to confuse and then throwing the big right So fair play to Klitchko I wanted Haye to win and I really think he has the style to beat Klitchko, the problem is Haye didnt fight the right tactics, he stood off far too much inviting pressure he hardly threw the jab himself to keep Wlad busy I just do not know what Haye was thinking in there tonight, the plan was god awful Yes he did have his moments where he connected but they were very few and far between When he did connect with a few right hands he did seem to effect Wlad but then didnt follow it up with anything and wlad was straight back onto the front foot The only things tonight I can credit Haye with is proving he isnt as glass chinned as many thought And having to put up with a disgraceful ref Apart from that there is nothing good to come out of this for haye apart from a healthy bank balance Once again to Wlad and his support well done
And just what does this now mean for the HW division, because as we already know the Klitchko brothers have said they would never fight each other But who is there to challenge them now? No name is jumping out at me This division needs shaking up badly, Haye couldnt do it now its over to someone else
You're wrong. Haye never had the style to win. Haye fought his style and lost. His antics sucked because he's a limited, athletic fighter that doesn't have the necessary dimensions to his game. Wlad is bigger, more technical, and slightly superior. But he sucks too. But against this opposition. Hell.
Hayes style for THIS fight was wrong Usually he starts really fast and gets in the face of the other guy, and thats the tactic most of the british press were saying he had to apply here, but he fought a cagey opening and then allowed Klitchko to impose his tactics Klitchko fought well tonight and deserved the victory Haye got everything wrong right from the start and never got back into the fight after klitchko dominating the opening rounds
In all sights, just check my bumped thread. As for the other guy, you bought the British press what can I say. Haye's naturally much more comfortable counter-punching which is an absolute nightmare against Wlad. He has very little inside dimensions, which he showed when he had a flinching reactive Wlad backed up and all Haye could do was back up and make it a long-range contest. Haye's best point of attack was a feint/fake left hook overhand right in the 12th. It was a point of offense created from an attack, not counter.
But then again if you buy what some other press were saying worldwide it would be a too powerful Klitchko knocking Haye out That didnt happen either, the thing is none of us knew what would happen tonight, some were saying haye will get pizza faced or whatever that means, some were saying klitchko would Ko haye early with the first right hand he landed etc None of that happened either, haye wasnt glass chinned, but neither was he able to get past the Klitchko jab But one thing is for certain and that is that Klitchko fought the absolute correct fight against haye even leading with the right hand in some attacks, something ive never seen him do previously That must have thrown haye, so Klitchkos team did good work
I actually didn't think Haye would be quite as defensive. When Wlad was clearly vulnerable in moments of reacting to his wild Hayemakers. Instead, Haye retreated range. I know he lacks an inside game but he knew the mindset. All his talk lead me to believe that he would alter his style slightly but alas he didn't. My analysis on the fight right after Haye-Harrison was far more accurate to what became when this fight neared. I said Haye's chances were 10% then, but I raised them to 20% thinking he knew he needed to have the necessary aggression to beat Wlad. Wlad hates aggression, any kind of aggression. He doesn't fight well of the back-foot. Wlad fought the correct fight, his usual fight. Tentative and a little boring, as he lacked the finished urgency to his promised "50 KO." Haye fought his usual fight, his natural counter-punching style. The wrong fight against such an opponent. The bold is where you're wrong. Haye can't lead, he can't attack. He can stand his ground in the CW division, but at HW he always retreats and tries to set traps. Haye had the same trouble of Chageov. All that bobbing and weaving only to look for a counter. Never bobbing & weaving to push forward. No double jabs, no aggression, no variety of attack or combinations. Just a predictable, right hand of the top, usual a counter. Haye's best point of offense was a left hook feint/fake and overhand right. Wlad reacted and flinched so heavily to the shot that Haye landed the right. That was the most unpredictable and offensive point of the fight for Haye. Haye had Wlad flinching and reacting to feints and right hands often during the fight. Only to back up to long range and give up his advantage of having a backed up, vulnerable opponent. He clearly didn't have the necessary dimensions. A little mystifying considering how he understood that you need to put Wlad in his uncomfort zone. How did Haye think he was going to do that with low punch out-put and trying to box & counter Wlad from a distance?
Haye fought on the front foot against Ruiz pressurising landing combinations and getting inside, thats something he should have done tonight. He didnt, he used the same tactic he used against Valuev and while that was effective against a man reluctant to come forward and with little if any offensive tactics, it wasnt effective against a man willing to go on the offensive. Haye should have gone after Klitchko early, like you said there was lots of flinching from Wlad when haye looked to throw, he should have used the feint more and also body punched he hardly threw a body punch all night instead he spent most of the time posing and looking for the big one punch KO
Well done on killing heavyweight boxing, RIP the once greatest prize in sport is now just a joke to the entire world apart from a few Klit-tards and Krauts.
Listen I wanted Haye to win because it would have shook up this division and the way its become so predictable with the klitchkos dominating etc But tonight as a Haye supporter for this fight I hold my hands up and have to say, Wlad boxed very well and fought the right game plan and won decisively The concern I now have is that there doesnt seem to be anyone coming up to challenge the brothers Im not going to write the obituary for this once great division just yet lol Its depressing to see the lack of depth in it though :-(
I was confident Wlad would be too big, too strong and too good for Haye, but am left disappointed by his sheer lack of aggression. I had some money on Wlad to win inside the distance and expected Haye to be as elusive as possible whilst having the odd potshots or flurries. I didn't see Haye as a legitimate threat and still feel the same way after the fight. Steward was pointing out everything Wlad wasn't doing right with clear instructions to let his hands go more and up the tempo but it just fell on deaf ears. Wlad blamed Haye for being negative and said he wasn't hurt at any point so you ask yourself why didn't he mix it a bit more?
Wlad was definately hurt in the 12th with the Haye right hand, definately stunned and he held onto haye for dear life But that was hayes only real time where i thought ohhhhh just maybe its still possible lol He should have been more positive throughout and when he caught wlad and wlad stepped back, haye should have followed him and thrown more punches instead he did nothing
