Agree love him or hate him his style works very very well. This fight pretty much went exactly like most logical fans expected it too which isnt very different then the last 5 years of Wlad fights. Haye was giving up to much size he couldnt get inside and in the end he had a punchers chance but only really landed one punch and it was to little to late. Stylistically a bad matchup for an inflated cruiserweight. Congrats to Wlad for another effective showing and even though im not a fan thank you haye for at least showing up and getting us somewhat interested in a HW fight for the first time in a long time.
It worked against Valuev Honestly, he did even less in the Valuev fight, he ran for 1.5 minutes in a row at times, not even attempting to throw a punch. Haye's a disgrace.
Got to admit I'd never seen Haye fight before today's debacle against Klitschko. I'll also admit I'll likely never watch him fight again. If that is what the Brits consider a good fighter, you can have him. What an over-hyped POS he turned out to be with today's showing. I read a lot of posts on this group before today's fight and it was obvious many UK members were touting Haye as the guy to defeat Klitschko. Talk about blind faith!!! That was simply one of the most pathetic fights I've seen in a while considering it was waged by 2 world champions. While I'm far from a Klitschko fan, I have to admit he is a force to be reckoned with because of his size and conditioning. And not to just bash the UK fighter, I see no one in the U.S. that can offer much of a challenge to either Klitschko brother.
He was more pathetic and cowardly versus Valuev. At least we can say Klitschko is a real problem. Valuev, on the other hand, just plodded offering nothing -- and had been beaten up by a near 50-year old Holyfield in his previous match -- and David Haye RAN in their fight!
Technically what Haye brought to the game was appaling. Single, looping, telegraphed shots that had very little chance of connecting. He produced one or two attempts of those big shots each round. He is the definition of a spotty fighter. Granted, Haye connected twice with those big shots, but as Ive insisted all along, he simply does not have enough power to trouble most heavyweights with single shots like that. Haye did prove his chin could withstand a heavy shot or two, but to be honest Wladimir was cautious as usual and did not want to take too many risks with a pretty mobile Haye and exposing himself in the process. Haye has speed and adequate power, but he simply doesnt have the work rate and the mentality of a champion to win at a top level in this division.
Haye is, frankly, an average boxer with a terrific speed and decent power, and not a real HW. His performance tonight was appalling and almost as bad as I expected.
If you're going to talk it, you should at least TRY to walk it. All that talk and then falling down all over the place and practically begging the ref to get him out of there? Pathetic.
