Haye sawed British boxing's head off - and now needs to apologise to his fans

    It's not only your career on the line when you get the entire world's attention and promise a violent and bloody knockout wearing the home colors, you put your boxing background and the fans' reputation as well so you might very well get the knockout or get KTFO trying, becuase British boxing, this historical region with the great fans just got the most limelight since Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson.

    David Haye with all his taunts and critique of other countries 'coward' challengers ultimately put the entire nation on his shoulders and it's fighters reputition on the line - Matthew Macklin doesn't get the kind of attention and needs Haye's peformance to build on, Carl Froch is nowhere near as big representing GBR, Khan and Burns are fighting their heart out to get as popular as Haye plus all the supportive, chanting fans putting their money and credibility on the line, they all needed David Haye to show up and make them proud, or get carried out but with his warrior spirit intact.

    The worst possible thing after talking about America's fat heavyweights and Eastern Europe's boring fighters is turning into a Kevin Johnson and Sultan Ibragimov on the very night the world - and offended countries - watch what's a British fighter's got. And boy did they get it! British boxing deserved better, supportive British fans deserved better, instead upon the promise of making them proud they got an expensive dose of shame. After all, David Haye tore British boxing's head off and now needs to apoligize to his country.

    " wot a wanker"
    "***** ass dickhead"
    "lost £500 on that bum"

    Completely agree. Haye does not deserve such a resounding support.

    What sickens me is that he did not even go for it..

    Khan, Froch, Macklin, Burns etc.. deserve to be in the limelight way more than Haye, such a shame that they arent advertised as much

    Good post Bone.

    Not the first time Haye has mislead the fans though is it.
    He said before the Valuev fight,that it would be like David and Goliath,that he would slay the giant.
    Before the Fraudley debacle he said Harrison wasn't in his league,and would be brutally KO'd in the first round.
    The fight went exactly as i thought it would,but he was even more negative and defensively minded than i thought,so my prediction of an 8th round TKO by Wlad didn't come off.

    Imagine the feeling if you bought the PPV or even went to see Haye fight live! Same story over and over again, only vs. Fraudley he had a little chat before the fight, Wlad was unwilling to throw it.

    I bought it, it went as I expected, and I'm glad.

    Only people who would be unsatisfied with the fight to me can either be casual boxing fans or hardcore haye fans and people who had money on him.

    Anyone who thought they were going to come out wildly swinging bombs deserves to lose all their money.

    After 8 rounds clearly in the need of a knockout, Haye should've just done that, come out swinging, he's a KO artist after all. That is of course if he actually wanted to win not just to get paid.

    Haye reminds me of De Gale in that sense, he put a lot of unnecessary pressure on himself, and could not live up to it, now he's gonna face the wrath of the disgruntled, expectant fans, who brought into his BS.

    some people take pre-fight promotions way too seriously. It's good to have villains in the sport. While it was a bit of a bait and switch performance by Haye, he's not the first to come up short on the big stage. It was an entertaining night overall and even if you had to pay to see it on TV, that's small beans and was cause for a party, so you probably had a good night anyway.
