When you are up, like Wlad was in my book two of the first three rounds, why risk it all? Haye was very fast, had great upper body movement, and staying just out of reach...but by staying just out of reach, couldnt' batter Wlad enough. Haye has a great eye for distance and stayed that inch out of danger. That inch too far to come in enough. That same inch Haye stayed out of reach, allowed most of the time Wlad to retreat with out getting hurt. Wlad came back hard each time he was knocked hard....so did Haye. But everyone knew Wlad was the real Champ, and you got to take it from him. I won't say either fighter fought 'scared', I think both fighters go hit early enough to have respect of the other's power. I do think that Haye should have been a bit braver, in he knew he had to get the KO. Not because he was in Germany which is total BS, but because after three he was behind two rounds.
I don't get it that Wlad was scared....of what.... dropping his hands and letting Haye tee off on him. Haye ran the entire fight. Afraid to engage, and worseso than he did vs Valuev. I get it that WLad failed in his KO bid, but cmon, you can't kill a rabbit with your bare hands. You've either got to snare it, or shoot it.
Wlad was the aggressor in the fight, he threw almost double the punches, he was chasing all night. If his punch volume was down its because of all the movement and resets. That being said I was begging him every round to let his hands go more. I've always felt Wlads weaknesses are: No body punching, he's a pure head hunter, likely due to his size, but its no excuse He never throws where he opponent will be, he only try's to blind them with a jab and sneak a right behind it. Haye was moving typically into the path of a big right hand all night, however Wlad is gun shy and refused to time that, or doesn't have to skills to do so. Many times he seemed he wanted to throw the right and just didn't let it go. That **** is frustrating, he certainly could have done more, but I feel that way about most or all of his fights. He's way too careful to be truly exciting. But Haye was no different at all.
who do you think was the bigger *****..the man setting the pace.throwing the most punches and the agressor..or the guy running about the ring who landed less punches?????give credit where its due please
Did you want Wlad to just stand there and take punches on the chin to satisfy your needs? The guy avoided getting hit which is the idea of the sport. Hit and not be hit. Ever heard of it?
Obviously both were disgracefully big pussies. You can have a feeling out round in the first and or second round but the mofo robot keeps feeling his opponent out for 12 roundsatsch
I also noticed that Wlad did back straight up whenever Haye lunged (and feinted), but he was just out of reach anyway. Wald knows how to skillfully use his height against a smaller guy. So we can't necessarily say he'd get caught by those 80's 90s clubfighters either. Both guys showed each other a huge amount of respect. Look at how each one responded to the other's feinting, lol. They were both very wary of an exchange. The difference is, one guy (Wladimir) had a 30lb weight advantage and 4 inch height advantage. Look at the Wlad-Ibragimov fight. It was just as bad. No one wants to see a guy that big fighting so tentatively. On the other hand, look at Haye-Valuev. That was also a horrible, insomnia curing "fight" if we should even call it that. All signs pointed to us getting this stinker of a fight. Haye looked to me as if he had trouble dealing with Wlad's skillful ability to "fight tall". For all his talk about preferring to fight, and I quote: "tall, chinny, Eastern Euro robots", he sure did get a wake up call against the best one he ever fought.
I rushed home from work to watch and picked up the fight midway thru the 7th round. Expecting to see fireworks but was instead treated to a boring and monotonous jabfest.
Let me get this straight, people are giving Haye **** for moving and not throwing much but give Wlad a pass for clinging on for dear life whenever Haye got close?? Am I reading this right?
Haye didn't seem to want to engage at all and Wlad has never exactly been a riverboat gambler so it quickly developed into a boring, tedious, predictable pattern. A damn shame for the fans worldwide.
