Like I've been saying all along, it was ALWAYS on Haye to MAKE THE FIGHT. Wlad did the same **** he's been doing since the last time he got sparked, jab, jab, jab, right hand and some grabbing thrown in to avoid in-fighting. Haye knew that coming in. He knew that when he was talking all that **** about how boring Wlad was. And he knew it last night when he was flopping about mat like an epileptic. Wlad did what was expected, Haye was the one that was going to change the world and bring excitement to the heavyweight division.

Larry Merchant is the only good commentator in boxing. Everyone else is a shill for the network they work for. Don't get mad cause he had to audacity to call it like it is.

David Haye fought the perfect fight against a bigger, stronger guy. Its a pity about the execution though - he missed a lot of opportunities to cause Wlad problems. A lot of people were saying he was going to end up as 'pizzaface' and would be knocked out inside the distance whatever way he fought because Wlad's abilitiy to 'cut off the ring'. It turned out both had similar marks on their faces. Haye HAD to fight the way he did because he knew Wlad was by far the bigger man. Against smaller guys Haye would have had NO HESITATION in smothering his opponent with flurries but against bigger guys he just could not afford to risk it. I have no doubt that if Haye had been a similar size of Wlad, the fight would have been very different.

Champions take risks. Haye was unwilling to do this. Klitschko is just a much better and fighter. Period. If you want to take belts from someone especially on their turf you have to take risks. Haye just showed up.

agreed...all about perception.....do u side with wlad...who uses his advantages and cautious style....does what he has to get the w.....

or do u see it as a bigger guy who kind of fights like a *****....because everytime haye tried to get inside wlad would smother the smaller man....

i dont have a problem with how haye fought....the odds were greatly stacked against him....he didnt do horrible....sure if you want to hold him to the standards he set in prefight talk....then i guess he did horrible....but doing what haye said he was gonna do is much easier said than done.....can u blame haye for talking up the fight and creating a buzz?

haye took risks.....did he take risks every second of every round? no....but you probably wont survive at all doing that...he took calculated risks....pretty tough to fight when you keep getting smothered every time u try to get into close range....

He wasn't smothered there was very little clinching because anytime Wlad got close Haye flopped to the canvas. The guy didn't even attempt to do what he said he was (big shock) he knew he was only going to win by KO he evern admitted that but he didn't try. It was clear as day.

then Dan Rafael is a sucker like many who put too much belief into spoken words during a promotion.

You can talk up a fight with things you actually plan to, gasp, back up. Yeah, there's always an element of exaggeration there, but like I said I've seen PLENTY of slick fighters talk up their slickness and plenty of volume punchers talk up their punch output. Haye talked up Wlad being boring and his own excitement then went out there and put on a **** show. Everyone has every right to clown him now.

It wasn't just "promotion" though you don't have to "promote" a Heavyweight unification fight by saying you are going to knock the other guy cold then show up and do literally nothing. Haye could have not said a word and tickets still would have been sold, PPV's bought, people watching on HBO etc.

I don't like Rafael he is good for breaking news and inside information but he is atrocious at scoring fights. I also don't agree that he should hold a grudge against Haye over not getting an interview (if true) that is very unprofessional. But, the criticism of Haye's tactics or lack there of in the fight after all the talk and false bravado is warranted. :deal
