Dan Rafael Shocking Lack of Professionalism

It's like Lampley pointed out earlier, it's all you need to know about the man.

 

He has a close kinsman in the disgusting Michael Katz..for all his "Chicken De La Hoya" **** in years past. Objectivity/opinionwise, that kind of "writing" is disgusting.

I can deny he stepped through the ropes at less than 100 percent. What evidence is there that he was injured before the fight? Maybe he hurt his pinky toe flopping around like a fish, or running like a *****.

Your argument is that no one can criticize a fighter who steps into the ring against a good or great opponent. I respectfully disagree -- Haye showed no class before the fight and less class in the ring, falling all over the place and begging the ref for help, throwing 4-6 punches per round, talking like a warrior and fighting like a girl.

Then he isn't even out of the ring before he's pumping up some bullspit excuse. A man with a seriously injured toe doesn't prove his point by stepping up on a table to show off that toe. If you can climb up on furniture, you're not less than 100 percent.

If the two best futbol teams in the world play in the World Cup Final and one team kicks the ball in its own goal six times, is the press not supposed to point it out? If Federer plays Nadal at Wimbeldon and serves up three dozen double faults, are we supposed to ignore it and stand and applaud because the two best in the world were playing? If Rory McIroy double-bogeys the last nine holes at British Open, are we supposed to say he was brave because he had a terrible hangnail?

I don't think so.

Haye invited all the criticism he has gotten by the way he conducted himself before the fight juxtaposed with the way he didn't fight -- don't call yourself a warrior and go crying to your mums about having athlete's foot.

Ya but they are paid fighters. Bread to disrespect and belittle their opponents. Dan is a journalist paid to be unbiased and give and objective view of boxing events. He is not paid to use his platform to have personal vendettas or at least to impose them on the public.

Rafael's attempt at humor is short-sighted and not in the best interest of his job or boxing on ESPN. When Rafael writes these things on twitter and they are placed on the ESPN website, it is bad for boxing. Cracking jokes about one of the biggest boxing events of the year, no matter how bad the fight was, how can the producers of ESPN Friday Night Fights ask for more money, or even Rafael himself ask for traveling expenses for the next mega fight?

Rafael, who is not funny by nature, undermines his own position by passing along silly one liners he heard from someone else. Rafael is a decent advocate for the game, when he leaves the social media stuff alone.

 

Pfft, people always knock on Dan Rafael. Sure, he's pretty terrible at scoring a fight, but how bad can it be?

Like I said I read his breaking news and inside info but I ignore his scorecards and his opinions on the sport. He holds personal grudges against certain fighters and to me that is unprofessional. He also conducts himself as a slob his appearances on Friday Night Fights are embarrassing with his awful clothes and hair etc.

 

Haye deserved all the stick he got from Larry and Jim. He talked himself into a fight and didn't manage to back it up.. I expect nothing less from Merchant than tell it like it is.

Saying that, Rafael is a disgraceful c*nt. I have 0 respect for him ever since I read his comments about Briggs. Criticism is one thing, but blind hate doesn't belong on a respected sport website. He is on a level of an average troll.

 

Well said that was inexcusable.

 

I've read through 11 pages and I still can't get past the original post. Haye took twelve rounds of punishment? Looked to me like he did his best to avoid any punishment at all. Or delivering any...

Rafael spoke the truth.

 

Twitter 101 lesson: Rafael's tweets with the toe jokes were almost 100 percent re-tweets -- he was just passing along what others were tweeting.

That's part of his job, to be part of the social media discussion and to give those who follow him on twitter a good sampling of how the public was looking at the event. And all the toe jokes were a solid indication that the boxing world, from serious to casual fans, think Haye is a joke.

What's unfair about that? How does that make Rafael unprofessional?

 

Typical Dan "The Fat Man" Rafael. Disrespect a pro fighter when that slob can't do a chinup.

Nothing wrong with being critical, but that slob has vendettas and the only reason his slovenly ass exists is because ESPN doesn't take Boxing coverage all that seriously. No way in hell that clown who looks like a 400lbs bag of manure after a spring rain in a burlap sack when on air would exist on the NFL or NBA beat.

 

So let me get this straight: Dan Rafael is unprofessional for saying that Haye punked out, fought like a little ***** and blamed it on his toe.

But no one thinks Haye was unprofessional for his OTT shirt with a beheaded Wlad?
