I find the assertion a bit odd. We've always prided ourselves on being decent bodypunchers. There are a lot of bodyhunters over there that are almost obsessive about it. It's also the primary way to break down journeymen. This thread would be better in the Euro forum. The typical Eurobot never punches to the body. It's illegal to deviate from the 1-2.
Bob Fitzsimmons invented the solar plexus punch. Scored a few knockouts with it too. Hatton as already mentioned is the obvious one.
I love a bodyshot. I noticed that i was only lad to throw them in gyms i boxed in as a kid. Trainers were more bothered about the Am scoring and i think that's what stops kids really taking pride in going to body. Personally grew up watching professional boxing and loved way the punch felt as you hit the ribs/stomach. I think my dad was great help because he implored me to work on bodyshots etc.
Hatton TKO'd Castillo via a body shot Khan Dropped Maidanna via a bpdy shot Calzaghe and Cleverly mix shots to the body and head I think you may be a bit off mate
Mandana said it himself -- doesn't appear to be taught at the gyms as much there as in the U.S. and some other places.
The OP has a point. Whilst several pros have been good body punchers, it should be noted that in AMATEUR boxing the ABA strongly discourage bodypunching and instruct judges NOT to score body shots. Ridiculous, but true
