My Top 10 at the moment Wlad Vitali Adamek Chambers Haye Thompson Povetkin Helenius Chagaev Dimitrenko H2H I'd favor Haye over Adamek or Chambers. But Adamek is more accomplished overall and Chambers has many more good wins as a heavyweight.
Thats not a bad list at all. I would only move Dimitrenko out there. Hes not a top 10 material. Solis is better. Arreola is better too. And Povetin's inactivity makes this guy's actual fighting condition a big question mark.
The division is so disgusting that I wouldn't even bother ranking it. Wlad and Vitali are the only ones I'd bother to call a "top" HW and you can switch them around however you like.
Povetkin is really good, but besides two wins over Chambers and a shot Chris Byrd, who has he fought? His last 6 opponents have been bums. Meanwhile, Chambers had to fight Wlad (when Povetkin chickened out). Yes Povetkin beat Chambers. But Chambers should be ranked higher. Boxrec has Povetkin at n.14, so perhaps I'm not crazy thinking this.
Helenius is not #3, he was being outboxed by Peter (260lb version), until he got the KO. Anyone who is being outboxed by a 260lb Peter, I don't see as being the 3rd best heavyweight...how could they be? I'd go 1. Wlad 2. Vitali 3. Haye 4. Adamek 5. Not sure...could be Povetkin, hard to tell since he's been so inactive. I think possibly Arreola at his lower weight. Chambers, Tony Thompson and Helenius are possibly there, Boystov too. Basically after the top 3-4 heavyweights, (and even more so after the first 2), there are a lot of fighters on what seem to be fairly equal ground....good fights to be made.
1. Wladimir 2. Vitali 3. Haye 4. Arreola 5. Thompson ------------- 6. Solis 7. Chambers 8. Adamek 9. Povetkin 10. Chagaev
Yes the divison is weak, when a guy with 10 fights like Helenius is rated from 5-8 by the guys here. Originally I thought he was going to be over his head, Bedinko, Levin, Brewster and Peters.... He can not be ready for the big time, he needs five or six fights at least to pick up the tricks and slights of the trade. There are not five of six fights out there for him. If he don't run into a reality wall he's next years meat. He needs a fight with Chambers....but Chambers don't need a fight with him.
Hayes better than 3/4/5 IMO. Helenius was just used as Hayes sparring partner! Adamek gonna get smashed up by Vitali and Chambers is at very best, average! Heavyweight division is dead!
1. Wlad 2. Vitali 3. Haye 4. Adamek 5. Helenius If Povetkin gets active, I think he's good enough to beat Haye, Helenius, and Adamek.
