I picked it up a few weeks ago and finished it in 3 days. Really enjoyed it, and thought it was pretty honest (especially about how weak he was in terms of his womanising, as well as the sexual abuse he suffered). I must admit, I wasn't really a massive fan of his (always preferred Duran and Hearns) but I really got into it and would recommend it.
Yes, I went to his book signing in L.A.....got an autographed copy, and took a nice photo of the champ. Like you, never liked him in his day, but the book was probably the most honest boxing autobiography I've read. He spends a lot of it condemning his own behavior, mainly his alcoholism. I have to say it was very humble and so much different from the cocky guy who used to annoy me. It was great.
Yeah I agree, particularly with your last point. It was very much Ray Leonard who wrote this book, not Sugar Ray.
